For the whole of the following week Nayas body hurt everywhere. She knew training with Xander would be exhausting, but she never imagined anything like this.
Especially the bruises of where he hit her with the pommel of his sword while she was blindfolded. He says that it forces you to use your other instincts, instead of relying on what you see. But she thinks he deliberately forgets that she does not have the hearing, strength, speed or agility like he and the Fae share.
Naya has improved a lot. It is not that Xander was a better teacher than her Uncle, because quite frankly, they were both equally good. Xander just had more skills to share, that she did not learn by her uncle.
Naya rather enjoyed her time with Xander, even though he was a stuck up bastard, who used this time to his advantage, to boss her around. She liked spending time with someone she hardly knew and getting to learn their true colours.
Xanders, well his were a bit harder to uncover. Naya already knew from the start that he was territorial, bossy and arrogant and although she hated to admit it, cute and handsome. But she has come to learn that he can be kind in his own crooked way, but mostly he tries to shorten the fuse of her temper, that she just wants to punch him in the face or snap his neck.
"Where are you going?" Naya asks Xander from across the room, the one morning, who is loading a mare with supplies, in the stables. She cant believe it's been a whole week in which they trained together, Julias becoming far too busy with this alliance fiasco.
"On a trip." He says, walking Poncho out of his stable and loading him with supplies. Naya walks towards Poncho, confused. "And you're coming with me." To clear her confusion.
"Wait, what?"
"What?" Xander snaps. "Little princess afraid of sleeping a night in the woods with a territorial, self-centred Fae male?" He continuous mockingly. "I already have your parents approval. They believed it to be good idea. I mean at some point you humans will have to trust us, right?"
Naya nods. "So where are we going?"
"Nowhere in particular. You'll see when we get there. And, do me a favour? Don't get the wrong idea with this trip, okay?"
"Why would I get a wrong idea. You're my trainer and prick, if you ask me."
Xander stops with loading the supplies and looks at Naya. "Look I know how your princess heads goes the wrong direction when boys do things like this."
"So, what? You think after this trip I am going to run after you like a loyal puppy and do as you please, just so you can dump when you find another girl?" Xander looks offended. "Yeah, I know how your prince heads goes too."
Xander goes back to packing and then after a while mounts the mare and Naya mounts Poncho and they head off towards the snowy mountains.
