About an hour later it is dark and Xander has been trying for the past half hour to start the fire, but no good. With all this snow the branches where damp and therefore can't get caught alight. He rubs his face hard clearly frustrated.
"Don't you have fire magic or something that will help?"
"No." He snaps. "My magic only consists of wind and ice, flying and shapeshifting into a ghost leopard. Naya nods, regretting that she asked. Why don't you try lighting the fire?"
"With what?"
"Your raw magic."
"What?!" She says jumping from her seat. "Last time I checked I was a human who doesn't possess magic."
Xander nods, not believing her lie. "So, when was the last time you checked? I would say about when you were five."
"I do not possess magic." She says more calmly. Trying to make the lies more convincing. Xander nods and carries on with his useless attempt to start the fire.
About two hours later, there is still no fire going. Xander has given up all together and sits on one of the logs across from Naya. She stands up and walks inside the tent, grabbing two blankets before emerging.
"Oh, Thank you. I am freezing."
"Then maybe you should get your own blanket. These are for the horses." Naya figured that, considering she is freezing Poncho and Libia must be too. She throws the blankets over them and walks back to where the fire would have been, if lit.
But before she can arrive Xander blocks her way. "What?!" She says, annoyed.
"Temperatures are going to drop below 0 degrees (Celsius) tonight. So I just wanted to remind you, that if you dont use your magic, we might freeze to death. So take that into consideration."
"Are you still on that subject? How many times do I have to tell you that I do not possess magic?"
"I will stop, when you stop with the lies."
Naya has had enough. She bowls her hands into fists and swings her right fist to make contact with his jaw, but Xander is too fast. He slides past her and he stands behind her. He leans down and bites her in the crook of her neck. Leaving two small holes trickling with blood.
There is a burst of blue light and Naya thinks that Xander shifted, but when she turns to face him he is in his usual form. His pointy Fae ears, his wings tucked away, his mouth lifted in a smile, with a blood trickling down the side of his mouth. Her blood.
"So she is not human after all." Naya looks at him confused. "She is a demi-Fae."
