A knock at the pair of thick magnificent oak doors alerted him that he had a guest. He raised his gaze from the book in his grasp and slapped it shut before tucking it away.
"Enter."
"King Niklaus," the silver haired female acknowledged respectfully.
"What is it, Jack?"
"Y'know how you asked me to follow your mother 'cuz it was a little weird that she was leaving at like 4am in a taxi? Well, I did as you asked. She rented a vehicle and drove to a city a couple of hours away from here, not far from where your sister now resides. She was spotted entering an unknown residence."
"Then find out whose house it is. Why are you here telling me this?"
"Because," she replied rocking on her heels like that of a child. Her crimson gaze twinkled within the dimly lit office. "I did that and it's listed as a home your parents own."
"So it's another vacation house?"
"I suspected as much, until I saw someone leave and return again multiple times and she wasn't your mother." Her brows wiggled knowingly.
"Who was it?"
"Your rejected mate!" She sang with a smile.
Nik's brows knitted together in confusion.
Why would she be there? He asked himself.
"Now, I'm betting you're wondering why she would be there, so did I, so I followed her! I know that wasn't what you asked," she rambled quickly, "but my gut told me to so I left my partner to watch the house and followed her."
"And?"
"And after making a stop at an elementary school, she ended up at Miranova Enterprises. While I kept my surveillance up from outside, I did a bit of research. It turns out she has taken over her father's business!"
"So? Do you expect me to send her a congratulations card and a bouquet of flowers? What is your point? 'I know I probably hurt you pretty fucking bad but congrats on taking over your dad's company'. Yeah, that's awesome."
"You're not happy that she's alive and well despite you quite literally breaking her? Shame shame," she tisked.
"Jaquelin," his voice was calm and low, but clearly irritated, "You're lucky you're a friend and not a Pride member. What is your point?!"
She raised her pointer finger into the air, "We are not friends. I owe you and I'm having fun doing this. I'm getting to my point, Nik."
"Then get there faster!"
"Okay, okay! So get this, at the end of her evening, as I observed her leaving, I noticed that someone was walking her out and they were a little...cozy." Her brows wiggled in that knowing way.
"Jack. If you don't get to your fucking point-"
"It's the son of the DelAmora Alpha!" She grinned excitedly. The woman was like a teenager with a juicy rumor and it was starting to piss him off.
"What," he growled, "did you just say?"
"What was his name?" She pondered tapping her fingers over her chin. "You know who I'm talking about, right? The super hot wolf whose sister was Nekolette's mate? Sebastian? Eh...that doesn't sound right..."
"Jaquelin, if you say his name in my presence," he growled angrily. "I will fucking end you."
"Sa- oh, got it," she smiled timidly.
