“Okay, so what do I have to do?” I leaned into Zack’s hands after the initial shock of hearing the words out loud had passed.

“Depends on how you interpret the predictions,” Gabriel shrugged his shoulders. “You could be killed in battle, captured and made into a slave, worshipped like a god, create a new generation of Beings. Literally a shit-ton.”

“Did you say slave?!” Zack stopped breathing I think. “Like, as in possibly being the slave of an Incubus?!”

“Possibly, yes,” Gabriel shrunk. “They’re usually dressed in skimpy clothing and either waiting on guests at parties…or…they’re the entertainment.”

Zack swore under his breath, “Are there any more positive outcomes?”

“Not really. The rest are rather shitty.”

“Great,” he breathed heavily, pressing into my shoulders again with much more force this time. I leaned back, looking up at him and causing him to stop. “Sorry,” he muttered, eyes flashing from red to blue. “What’s she going to do for our side? Does she have to be on the battlefield? Can’t we lock her up in a tower deep in the woods somewhere?”

“Yeah, she’s our Joan of Arc,” Gabriel muttered, closing one book and opening another. “She’s a combination of everything that ever existed. She’ll be the best thing that ever happened to us.”

“How?” I asked, not seeing how that could even be possible.

“You’ve got every power known to our kinds flowing through your blood. You can swim faster than any mermaid, cast clearer spells than any witch, read people like a book. Everything,” Gabriel laughed. “But that also means it’ll be easier to kill you.”

“Wait,” Zack was frowning. I could hear it in his voice. “So…what can she do in terms of the Elder’s powers?”

“Anything she wants. She’s pretty unlimited.”

“But-” I held up a hand.

“So she can seduce people?”

“But-”

“Exactly.”

“But-”

“And stop time like Cronos?”

“Yeah.”

“Hey!” I stood up, catching their attention. “Don’t you think I’d remember being able to cast spells or seduce people?! I can’t do any of that!”

“Could’ve fooled me,” Zack mumbled absently, blushing after looking up at me. “I said that out loud, didn’t I?” I nodded. “Sorry, but it is true. You’re pretty seductive.”

“Yeah, no,” I took the seat that was once his, and he frowned, leaning back in his chair.

“I bet you could.”

“Unfortunately for you, I don’t take bets from attractive demons that very obviously want me to sit in their laps,” I mirrored his expression, sending him a full smirk.

“Maybe you should,” Gabriel mumbled, scrolling through pages. “I mean, how else could we test that you’re the Savior if you’ve never done any of this before?”

My smirk faded and Zack’s grew darker. “There’s a different way to test that…right?” Zack frowned. “I mean, I’m just awkward, and you don’t want to rush things.”

“There are other ways to test it, but it would be easiest for you to just… yeah,” Gabriel blushed, opening another book.

“This is peer pressure,” I huffed, crossing my arms over my chest. “And it’s kind of cheating since he’s my boyfriend.”
