Casey's POV.
19th March 2020After the slowest day at work, it was finally time to see the place I would be calling home. I had finished packing all my things last night and they were currently in the car. My satnav said it was only a 10 minute drive to my new home but that soon turned out to be longer. I turned out from the car park and was hit by a long road of traffic with red brake lights flashing in the distance. I had heard on the radio how bad the city can get packed with traffic jams but I was always straight on the motorway previously. It took at least 20 minutes to arrive at the flat, I parked in the space which Jacob had texted me and got one of my suitcases out deciding I would get the rest out later. I knew the door number was 3B as it said on the advert but Jacob informed me he would be in when I arrived and would give me my key then.
My mother thought I was crazy moving in with a stranger, in a city I had no idea about but my commute to work had been taking an hour and a half everyday for the last 7 months and at the age of 25 it was time for me to move out and flat sharing was all I could afford right now. Maybe I should have come to view the flat before I agreed but hopefully all the photos are real.
I entered the lift and pressed for level 3. One side of the lift had a mirror and the others had posters all over, some informing people of what was going on in the building, others about upcoming events. The lift dinged to inform me I had arrived and to my likelihood 3B was straight opposite. I knocked on the door, hoping that Jacob hadn't forgotten about me moving in, a few minutes later the door opened to reveal a dark haired man in a crisp white shirt and as my eyes scanned down I noticed he was only wearing boxers
'Um' I made some sort of noise and looked down to the floor, not sure where to look. Jacob looked down and reality hit that he was standing at his front door in front of a stranger nearly naked
'Please don't say you're Casey' Wow his accent was strong, but sexy. I weakly smiled
'Sorry I wasn't expecting you so soon, I'm in the middle of getting ready for work' When I asked Jacob about the living arrangements he told me he worked at a bar so he worked evening shifts most of the time, meaning I would have the place to myself on a night after I finished work and he would have the place to himself through the day when I was at work, it would be like ships passing through the night 'Come in' he gestured stepping aside to let me through, I squeezed in passed him, a little unsure where to look but Jacob looked like everything was normal.
The place was nice. Ish. It was very minimal but tidy. There was no photos, plants or colour but that's fine because it's only temporary and Jacob said I can decorate my room however I wanted.
'This is the kitchen' He pointed to the right. Good job we wouldn't be in the flat at the same time as each other as it was tiny. There was a chopping board on the side with a half eaten sandwich, actually, I think it was jam and peanut butter sandwich making me doubt if he was actually 27. I was beginning to wonder if there was any cooking equipment in the cupboards or is it very minimal. We continued about 20 steps before we reached the sitting room, there was a huge TV on the wall with wires hanging down the wall connecting to all sort of game consoles, I could make out an X-Box, Wii and so many games stacked up on top of each other. There were two couches and a beautiful wooden coffee table in front. Against the side wall was a small dining table, with only two chairs but I didn't know many people in the city apart from my work colleagues so that didn't bother me.
'There's a small balcony out there' He pointed to the double doors but didn't open them. I would have to have a sneak peak out there when I'm on my own. Jacob pointed to the door which he stated was the bathroom, again I will look when I'm on my own because apparently this is just a quick flat tour. He pointed to the door on the right explaining that was his room and mine is on the left.
'If you need anything, you have my number and this is your key' He stated before opening his door and heading in, most likely to finish getting ready for work.
I walked into my room to find it surprisingly very light and empty. Part of me was expecting Jacob to have his things in this room as well but he seems like a pretty simple guy. I dragged my suitcase from the front door into my new room, I opened up the wardrobe to find about 5 hangers in there, does he seriously think a girl only has 5 pieces of clothes she wants to hang up. I knocked on Jacobs door but got no reply, I assumed he had gone to work already and I didn't want to walk into his room without permission so made a mental note to get some hangers in town tomorrow. Seems as I couldn't hang all my clothes up, I decided to go down to my car and collect the rest of my things. On my way out I noticed the half sandwich that was previously there had now gone and the chopping board was even gone. Well I might not know much about the man but at least he seems to tidy up after himself.
I collect my bedding and plants, I still had some wall art to collect but decided to look around the flat a bit more. I opened the double doors which Jacob explained lead to the balcony and he wasn't lying. If he had said this was here on the advert it would have won me over alone, it was a good size balcony with a small table for two but the most impressive part was the view, the sun had just set but the twinkling city light were shining, lighting up the river, I am defiantly looking forward to having a glass of wine out here in the summer or a cup of coffee on a morning.
