"I see, so he's been plotting against us the entire time?" I nodded my head to Dabi's question, now instantly regretting what I had exposed.
"How are we supposed to be friends, if I betrayed him like that?" I asked myself.
Dabi looked surreal under the moonlight, and it didn't help that his hair was down. He looked like a completely different person, so beautiful and unknown. I just hoped that Hawks would be okay.
I swam away from Dabi, gliding with the man-made water current. It was nearly freezing, so I slowly made my way out of the pool. I hugged my naked body, trying to conceal warmth.
Dabi followed behind me, ready to warm me with his quirk. He grabbed his graphic hoodie, and patted my body down, absorbing the streaming drops of water. I stood waiting patiently, until he finished.
I snatched Toga's dress off the old bench, and slid my legs into it. For some odd reason, tonight's temperatures were freezing. Something bad was going to happen, I could tell by my unsettling gut feeling.
The feeling began when I ratted Hawks out. I couldn't trust Dabi with his safety, in fact, I knew he was going to do something. However, I needed to get over it. Heroes and villains will never mix, our friendship was bound to be short-lived. Deep down, I guess that I just wanted to feel like someone cared.
A comforting feeling of arms then enveloped my body, as Dabi embraced me from behind. Cold drops of water fell off the tips of his soaked hair, then streaming down my shoulder. I never needed Hawks to feel as if someone cared, when that person was right here the entire time.
He was all I ever wanted, and the only person I needed. Even if I lost my family and my old friend Pinka, in the very end, I always had him. "God, I love you." Dabi whispered into my ear.
I giggled, and placed my hand atop his. The warmth of his body tingled my skin, as I stroked up and down his scars. Dabi was still undressed, but thankfully had his pants on by now.
I turned my head back, causing our noses to graze against each other. Something snapped inside of me, causing me to no longer care. I didn't want to hold onto the false hope that Hawks gave me any longer, despite my promise to try and steer far away from darkness.
"Let's burn this joint, I'm bored." Dabi stole the words right from my mouth.
Dabi let go of me, taking a moment to slip his graphic hoodie back over his head. After he finished changing, I grabbed ahold of his hand. The next thing I knew, we were running.
Running down the long corridor, we were using both of our quirks. A few months ago, he mentioned that my quirk could "fuel his fire", and now it was doing nothing but that. Grey clouds of vapor overflowed the building, then being sparked by azure flames.
The closed public pool spent no time, before being swallowed by flames. Our combined quirks were too strong, not even the water slowed its growth. Dark streams of smoke reached high into the sky, merely touching the clouds.
No hero, not even a pro would be able to make it in time. Everything went up in flames, as Dabi and I laughed in sync. We just barely made it out the backdoor, before sprinting off into the distance.
I turned my head back, and knew the building was done for. The structure began to melt, and soon enough, the entire place would collapse. Excess water was stripped from our hair, as it dried from the intense heat of the fire.
Dabi laughed manically, proud of his newest creation. We ran past the neighboring trees, and into the unknown. It was the biggest fire I had ever seen, surely now the pros must've noticed.
My drying hair paraded through the wind, flying with the current of the breeze. After running for what felt like hours, we made it to a hill. The grass reminded me of the meadow, as it ruffled in the wind.
I ran up the hill, exhausting my legs. Once we made it to the top, I allowed my body to collapse atop the soft wisps of grass. Dabi let go of my hand, admiring the view from the high point.
He sat down next to my exhausted body, stroking and running his fingers through my hair. I gripped onto his wrist, giggling and smiling at him, whilst he peered into the distance. After sitting up, I finally realized what he was admiring.
Even from here, you could see the flaming building with ease. The azure fire only grew, spreading out into the surrounding trees. With my quirk, I was able to nearly double Dabi's firepower, creating something unknown to any hero.
"How beautiful." Dabi mumbled.
Taking ahold of my hand, Dabi then laid me back against the comforting grass. He wrapped his arms around me, before getting atop me. We rolled together, giggling and showing a moment of silence for our shared creation.
My hair rested lightly atop the grass, flowing into the crevices it made. Dabi looked down at me, admiring my features with his sapphire eyes. He felt the same way I did, I was sure of it. We didn't need the league, or anyone else. Our only necessity was each other.
His fingers entwined with mine, not letting go. In this moment, all I felt was ecstasy. My eyes began to water, as crystal tears streamed down my cheeks. Hopefully one day, there would be a possibility we could get married, or even have kids. However, that wouldn't be for a long time.
Not in a world like this, it wasn't safe for us. Besides, there were still too many secrets to uncover about each other. This was merely the beginning of our newfound story.
It had been silent until now, before Dabi found the place to break it. "You wanna know what this reminds me of?"
I tilted my head to the side, confused with his question. "Mhmm, I don't know."
"That night on the rooftop, remember? I pulled you into an embrace, just like this one." he responded.
Curling my toes into the soft grass, I began to giggle. "How is that related to now?"
Dabi wiped my streaming tears, grinning at me with a genuine look. His head lowered onto my shoulder, before he whispered into my ear.
"That's when I fell in love with you."
