The shock of discovering his son froze the man, despite the flames which blanketed parts of his body. I gripped onto Dabi's collar, before quickly getting up and fleeing the scene. He hung his head low, grinning under the black mask. "Bask in my flames, Endeavor."

I giggled, and ran as fast as I possibly could. That is, until the sound of sliced hair echoed throughout my ear canals. With a swift motion, my once, long locks of hair flowed down my shoulders for the last time. Dabi and I were immediately alerted, until I saw it.

A vermillion feather, I nearly got lost in it's beauty. It was sharpened and honed, ready for attack. Stopping my running feet, I then allowed Dabi to unhook his coat off my fingertips. "The two of you look different from when I last saw you." I heard, the voice having an unusually cocky tone.

There he was, the number two hero and climbing. Hawks, who ruffled his vermillion feathers, and exposed his pearly teeth with every chance he got. "Damn, (Y/N)."

"Looking good as always, but your eyes are dead." he said, before landing in front of us.

I surrounded Dabi and I within a cloud of citrine gas, blocking out any feathers Hawks tried to direct at us. Grabbing his hand, the two of us tried to create a distance between our bodies and the annoying birdman.

He followed us, purposely being a nuisance. Endeavor would be here any second, and we needed to get out of here. We had crashed several trains, and massacred hundreds, so we surely weren't the innocent ones in this case.

"Your eyes used to be so soulful, (Y/N). I really liked that about you." Hawks said.

His words nearly made me sob, as I felt the waterworks incoming. Dabi was too weakened to fight right now, I just needed to buy time. The two of us stayed silent, slowly regaining energy. Then, we could fry this barking chicken.

Hawks took it like he was meeting an old friend, he held back. Still, I couldn't forgive him for his past actions, including the haircut he had given me. I stepped out of the gas cloud, Dabi following after me.

"Two versus one, isn't that kinda unfair?" Hawks teased.

"I'll take you alone." I said, stopping Dabi from pursuing his feet.

"Hell no." Dabi argued, but my mind was already set. It would only be fair, for Hawks and I to fight solo.

Hawks ruffled his feathers, preparing them. I stood back, my lips sealed, before we locked eyes. Using every tip he had given me throughout training, I made sure to show off my quirk. First, use the grey gas to create a smog, as it creates an eye block.

Despite the smog, I knew that Hawks would easily see through it. Even if I threw up a block of citrine gas, it wouldn't affect his feathers drastically. So, I needed to try something new. I had never used it before, but I felt like this event would serve as a great trial run.

To be honest, I've never used corrosive gas before. The first time I discovered it, it decayed everything. Ever since that, I've been terrified. I took a deep breath of oxygen, and sensed Hawks' feathers closing in on me.

I ducked, and used my stored strength to release the blackened, corrosive gas. Within an instant, it began to slowly deteriorate the metals surrounding us, which made up the structure of the metro.

Hawks groaned loudly, as this type of gas was uncontrollable. Through the grey smog and flashing lights, I could just about hear the crinkling of his fleshy tissue decaying. I heard a thump, as Hawks' knees hit against the ground, his body in excruciating pain.

I dug my way through the thick smog, which seemed to stick to your skin. Hawks was weakened, but still continued to shoot his sharpened feathers towards me. They attempted to pierce through the gas, but it acted like a shield, and crumpled the keratin.

Dabi yelled at me from afar, not being able to see through the thick fog. "(Y/N)! We need to leave."

However, his words seemed so deafened to my ears. They were merely a background noise, as I drew even closer to Hawks' fallen body. His arsenal of feathers stopped flying towards me, slicing the air currents.

"One last time." I said to him, before pulling the birdman into my arms.

"I'm so sorry, Keigo Takami."

Absolutely frozen, his skin was cold in my arms. As expected, Hawks didn't hug back. If he was unable to, or just didn't want to, I couldn't have known.

Our job was done, and the mission was over. Now, our only task was to flee. I escaped through the fog, grabbing ahold of Dabi's sweaty fingers. He had regained his energy, but wasn't looking to waste it on an attempt to fight Endeavor.

"You alright? Is your head hurting?" Dabi asked mid-run.

My head was aching bad, but I could tolerate it. Using too much of my quirk results in piercing migraines, that's why it's handy to have those grenades. "No, no. I'm fine, I think."

We made it out onto the street, where traffic had been bundled up. Police cars were left abandoned, as the authorities scouted throughout the metro. A few other pro heroes were waiting, looking to ambush us as we walked out.

Using the last grenade I had on me, I hurled a bomb filled with melatonin gas towards the crowd of heroes. They quickly covered their mouths, but the streams of gas had already infiltrated their lungs.

Dabi and I continued to run, even though our legs were buckling. We stayed in the shade behind buildings, since Dabi got carsick easily. It would be dangerous to catch a cab, especially because the authorities probably brought out undercover agents.

"Holy shit, I can't believe we did that!" I exclaimed, my thighs thriving without the extra weight.

Then, we heard it. The alarming sound of helicopters flying above sent my face into a terror state. They were searching for us, turning on their blinding lights and checking every crevice of Japan.

Dabi quickly pulled me under an extended roof, keeping me close to his chest. Our breaths were heavy, as our sweat mixed together. "Damn, those heroes. Look at the mess they caused." Dabi mumbled, feeling my butchered tips of hair.

I brought my hand to his, and caressed down his stitch-line. My cheek nuzzled against Dabi's warm fingers, as a smile grew across my face. "It's okay, hair grows back."

Before we could leave, it began to rain. Cold drops of water fell from the darkened sky, creating small puddles of filth. Dabi and I stayed covered underneath the extended roof, shunning our bodies from the freezing rain.

The winter breeze carried raindrops onto my face, mixing with my newly streaming tears. I hung my head low, my locks of hair creating a different shadow from before. Dabi peered out, looking for an opening so we could leave. "Hey, Dabi?" I asked.

Dabi whined softly, signaling me to continue. "I'm scared.. And really fucking cold." I complained.

He encased my trembling body in his warm arms, staying silent until he took the moment to softly whisper into my ear.

"Don't be scared, (Y/N). I'm right here, and I always will be."
