Chapter 5

Dream's P.O.V

I watched from across the room as Nightmare gave a sad smile and tears rolled down his cheeks and onto the book. I felt bad just watching him cry.

But right now, I can't take any sort of form that anyone can see. My time is up for today and I'll have to wait for tomorrow.

Poor Nighty, I wonder why he's crying.

I made my way towards him and looked down, it was my favorite book. If I was actually visible, you could see me smiling.

I'm amazed he kept the book after all this time.

My brother's so cool!

Nightmare's P.O.V

I was getting the pages messed up, me and my tears. I tried to wipe them away, but they kept coming like a leaking faucet. No matter how hard you try to wipe it, the water will still come out.

Dreamy, why did you have to die? I wish I died instead. The multiverse needs you. I need you.
I lay in bed at night, hoping that I'll just wake up and find out this was all a horrible, horrible, nightmare.

And Dream will be downstairs, helping Blue make tacos.

I want him to just shake me awake, and look at him. I want to see him breath, heck. I want to see him blink again. He doesn't do I that as a ghost.

Maybe I could read and take my mind off of it, it used to help when I was being bullied. How I wish I could go back to those times.

Again, my mind began to drift off with memories flooding in.

"Hey Nighty!"

"Hello, Dream."

"What're you reading." Dream asked, tilting his head with curiosity. How tf was he so cute!? And how did I not realize!?

"Just a new book I bought."

"Can you read it to me?" Dream asked, already sitting beside me.

"Sure. Do you want me to start from the beginning?"

"Yes, please." I turned the pages until I made my way to the start.

"I sat under my broken roof, next to my broken window, with my broken family, and my broken heart. But, that's okay! Because I'm turning 18 in two weeks! Which means I'll get to move out!
I've been saving money for this since second grade, dreaming of the day I would get to leave this place and start a new life somewhere else."

I shook my head, I should just stop reminiscing about all the good times and start focusing on freeing my brother!
