'And the memories bring back, memories bring back you. '

I knock on Uncle Severus' door. "Ellie," he greets me as he lets me in. "I hope you aren't busy," I tell him as I sit down in a chair. "Just reading some mind numbing essays.. I could use a break," Uncle Severus says. He leans against his desk and looks at me. "We haven't had a chance to talk about the Sirius Black incident," Uncle Severus says, cautiously. "I'm okay, Uncle Severus. He didn't hurt me," I say, trying to ease his worry. He nods. "What exactly happened?" He asks me. I sigh as I think back to Halloween night. "After I left your office, I went back to the Great Hall to see if Nathan was there. After that, I went to the Ravenclaw common room to check there. That's when I found out he was already at the dungeons. So I was going back to my common room, and well that's when I encountered him," I say, trying to avoid details about the Marauder's Map. Uncle Severus nods thinking. "What did he say?" "Not much.. He told me he was here to kill someone. What's weird is that he said it wasn't Harry.." Uncle Severus looks at me puzzled. "Possibly just lying," he says blandly. "Maybe.. He also apologized," I say. "For?" "Well when I said I wouldn't let him go, he transformed into a dog to scare me off," I tell him. Uncle Severus eyes go wide. "He didn't hurt me, barely even touched me," I quickly add.

Uncle Severus groans as he gets off his desk. "When I get my hands on him," he mumbles. Uncle Severus paces back and forth. I should ask him about how he thinks Black got in. "Uncle Severus? How do you think he did it?" I ask. Uncle Severus stops pacing. "Remember how I told you Black has friends who would help him?" He asks me. I nod. "Well, I believe someone in this castle helped him get in," he says. "Who?" I ask. Uncle Severus leans against his desk. "Don't you worry about it. Professor Dumbledore believes no one in this castle would help Sirius Black get in," Uncle Severus says, avoiding the question. "But that's not what you believe!" I cry. "No, it's not," he says. "Lupin," he simply says. Did he just say Lupin? "What? No. You can't be serious. You think Professor Lupin helped Sirius Black?" I ask him. "You don't know Professor Lupin as well as I do," Uncle Severus coldly says. "There's a story behind this, isn't there?" I ask. He looks at me and then goes back to his desk.

I quickly get up and follow him, as he sits down in his chair. "What happened between the three of you? Professor Lupin told me you went to Hogwarts together," I say to him. Uncle Severus looks over at me. "I see, and what else did Professor Lupin tell you?" He asks, a bit annoyed. "That he wasn't very nice to you and he regrets it," I say. Uncle Severus' expression softens for a moment and then he shakes his head. "That's one way to put it," he says quietly. He sits in silence. I sit on the edge on his desk. Uncle Severus sighs. "The four of them went together everywhere. They were inseparable," Uncle Severus says as he stares at the papers sitting on his desk. I sit quietly, waiting for him to continue. "Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew and James Potter," he says the last name with disgust. James Potter? Huh. That explains the dislike towards Harry. "Although James and Sirius did most of the torturing, Remus and Peter watched and never helped," Uncle Severus says. He sighs and shakes his head. He turns to face me, reaching for my hand.

"I admire you, Ellie," he says softly. "What did I do?" "You always stand up for what is right. You stand up to bullies. It's good because sometimes the ones getting hurt don't have the courage to do it.. So don't you ever stop doing that," he says, squeezing my hand in his. I smile and nod. "I'm sorry they were horrible to you," I say to him. Uncle Severus smiles and places his free hand on my right cheek. "It's not your fault, my dear." He smiles as our eyes lock. I peer into his mind as the room fades. A younger Uncle Severus stands in the corridor with a young red haired girl. "I'm sorry they were so horrible to you," the girl says. "I'll show them. You just wait," young Uncle Severus says. "Severus, don't do anything you'll regret," she says. "Not doing anything is what I will regret," young Uncle Severus tells her. The scene changes and now four boys stand with young Uncle Severus and the young red haired girl out in the courtyard. "Hey Snivellus!" One of the boys shouts. The boy mutters a hex which hits young Uncle Severus. "Leave him alone!" The girl shouts. Suddenly, the scene fades and I'm back in the room.
