...
'It's the most wonderful time of the year.'
...

I walk down through the dungeons trying to find Alexander or Allison, praying that I won't run into Draco. Sadly, I run into someone worse. Pansy sneers as I walk past her. "Lost the way to your common room?" She asks. Don't let her ruin your mood. Don't let her ruin your mood. I slowly exhale and turn to her. "No, I'm just here to speak to a friend," I tell her, putting a fake smile on. "Ah right, your only friend," Pansy says, laughing. Blaise stands next to her. "You know Pansy, I wanted to invite you over for Christmas dinner," he says to her, glancing over at me to make sure I was listening. "Oh how sweet!.. Most of my family is going to be home when I go back! It'll be so nice to be home with a family," Pansy says. She shoots a sympathetic look at me. "Too bad you can't have that experience." I clench my fist. "Pansy, stop being so vile," a voice says. I turn to see Allison approaching with Alexander. Pansy looks offended. Allison shoos her and Blaise away. I unclench my fist. "Thanks," I say to her. She shrugs. "She can be annoying." "What are you doing here?" Alexander asks me.

I smile brightly. "I'm here to invite you two to my kick-off party tonight on the Astronomy Tower at 7!" Allison looks puzzled. "Me too?" She asks. I nod enthusiastically. "I would love it if you both could come!" "Hell yeah, I'll be there," Alexander says. We look at Allison. "I guess I could stop by," she says. I jump in joy. "Great! I'll see you tonight!" I rush out of the dungeons. Okay, I should get some materials to decorate the Astronomy Tower. Definitely should go for a Christmas theme. Maybe I could steal some leaves from Uncle Severus's office.. Oh and I got to figure out the music! "You seem busy," a familiar voice says, calling me out of my thoughts. Draco waves as he leans against the stairs. "Oh, Draco, hi," I say. I was really hoping not to run into you. "What are you up to?" He asks me. "Nothing, really," I tell him. He eyes me suspiciously.

"You were literally walking down the corridor waving your hands and mentally making notes.. You are clearly up to something," he says, crossing his arms. Fiddlesticks. What do I tell him? "What is going on in that pretty little head of yours?" Draco asks me, smiling. I look up at him. "Pretty?" I ask him, blushing. Draco clears his throat and rubs his neck. "Uh- it's an expression," he says quickly. He's redder than I am. I smile a little. "I am throwing a little party tonight. Just busy planning that," I tell him. "Oh," he says, standing straight. "I guess the owl sending out the invitations lost mine." He takes a step closer to me. "Draco, you know I would have invited you, but you're the one who suggested who shouldn't hang out in public," I remind him. He nods, remembering his words. "Right, right. Uh, well have fun at your party," he says, before heading down the stairs. I frown. Is he upset?  "Draco!" I call him, stopping him in his tracks. "I really am sorry." He doesn't look at me but nods and leaves. He's upset.

I head back to the Gryffindor common room. "You're all here!" I say as I approach Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny. "Where else would we be?" Hermione asks, looking up from her book. I take the book out of her hand. "Hey!" She shouts trying to reach out for it. "It's the day before the holiday break and you're reading. Do you ever take a break?" I ask her. She slouches, crossing her arms. "There's always more information to learn," she says. I laugh and hand her back the book. "You sure are something, Hermione.. Anyways, I hope the four of you are ready to mingle tonight!" I say in joy. "Mingle?" Ron asks. "Yes! I'm throwing a kick-off holiday party tonight on the Astronomy Tower!" The three of them beam in joy except Harry. "Bloody brilliant, Ellie," Ron says. "Thank you, thank you," I say, bowing. I turn to Harry. "Although it's an enjoyment for everyone, I mainly planned it for you, Harry. I thought you could use the distraction. It would be the perfect way to relax." Harry shakes his head and stands up. "I don't know Ellie, I really don't want to do anything tonight," he says. He leaves before I can convince him. Ron pats my shoulder. "I'll try to convince him." I thank him and go up to my room to finish planning.
