Jaehwa was surprised to see two cups of coffee already sitting on Johnny's desk beside a paper bag as she entered his office, the detective and his assistant already busy working.
"Early day?" Jaehwa asked as she sat down in her usual seat.
"This will be a mentally exhausting day, I hope you're ready." Johnny told her, eyes still glued to his computer as he typed away. "I got you coffee and a croissant."
"Thanks." Jaehwa said, warming her hands with the coffee.
The girl could only watch and eat in silence as the two boys worked, going through folders like there was no tomorrow.
"Alright." Johnny said, putting his hands together. "Let's get going."
...
Like before, Doyoung greeted them with a big smile but Johnny noticed he seemed slightly flustered by their appearance.
He wasn't expecting this.
"I'm surprised that you're back so soon." Doyoung admitted. "It's only been a few days."
"Yes, well Mark found the investigation report from the site of the crash, so we just had a few more questions. I hope we're not taking too much of your time, we know you're a busy man." Johnny said, hoping that it would flatter the male.
It must have worked as Doyoung shook his head. "No worries, like I said before, I'm happy to help in any way that I can."
"Great, let's begin then." Johnny said, motioning to Mark.
Mark nodded, taking his notebook that was filled with notes. "Alright, so it was a rainy night, you were in the car with Dowon, your brother driving, when he lost control and the car went off the rails, falling down the side."
Doyoung nodded his head. "Yes, that's right."
"The car was stopped by a tree, the two of you suffering minor injuries. You and your brother decided to exit the car and wait for the paramedics but Dowon slipped and fell on his front, rolling down and out of your sight. Is that perfectly correct?" Mark asked, looking up.
"Yes it is." Doyoung confidently answered.
Mark leaned back, glancing at Johnny before continuing.
"Is that so? Because in the report, you said that he fell on his back."
...
Jaehwa could tell Doyoung was panicking on the inside as he gave them a sheepish smile, scratching the back of his head.
"Did I? It's been a while, I must have forgotten." Doyoung said but Johnny and Mark both had straight faces.
"Do you recall any marks in the dirt?" Johnny asked.
Doyoung shook his head. "No it was just normal, nothing out of the ordinary."
"Not even when you left in the ambulance?"
Doyoung shook his head. "No, there weren't any."
Wrong answer.
"Well." Johnny said, taking a deep breath as he looked Doyoung in the eyes.
"A man of Dowon's size should have left a mark when he slipped and fell, especially in wet mud on the rainy night, like you described. Any signs of struggle such as broken branches, missing leaves would also have been signs if he fell down the hill like you described. Now this only leads me to one question."
Jaehwa watched as the colour drained from Doyoung's face, clear that he was completely screwed.
"Why aren't you telling us the truth?"
