8. The Arrow of Eros.

Gone.

One of the dark veins staining his left arm, was just gone.

Right where she had touched him.

Nicolae couldn't explain that to himself. It never happened before.

Kate was making herself at home more. She had found some old clothes in one of the closets upstairs and asked the vampire if she could use them.

He told her she didn't need to ask. He made clear to her that she could use anything in that house.

She had found some blue jeans overalls and she wore them with a t-shirt and her pair of boots.

"Could I help you with that?" She asked as she came up behind the vampire.

He was replanting some of the flowers Bill had tried to take.

Nicolae turned to look at her.

Kate laughed a bit at his answer. Nicolae could read her mind but he clearly didn't know she was an expert when it came to plants.

"Yeah I do." She moved next to him and put on some gardening gloves. Then, started moving each plant faster and more skillfully than him.

There was one detail that Nicolae could not miss. Each flower or leaf that Kate touched, was now shining with more life than before.

The vampire observed her quietly.

"You got quiet." She told him.

I didn't mean to offend you, obviously you are used to do this.

She smiled. "None taken. And yes, I run a flower shop with my dad."

Nicolae smiled. I see.

Kate smiled back and continued working, teaching him the best way to handle the delicate roots.

"Here, hold it like this." She told him, taking his hands and guiding them.

Nicolae was surprised she waa touching him but didn't say a word. He liked the way her hands guided his.

"I think I saw a bag of soil up there. We need more. Keep holding this, I'll get it with the ladder." She brushed his arm and went for the ladder, moving it where the access to the second level of the greenhouse was.

Be careful.

He told her while holding the precious roots of a young flower.

Kate climbed up the ladder and reached for the bag she saw earlier. She was so close, she could touch it with the tips of her fingers...

She reached too far though and the ladder decided to move making her lose her balance.

"Crap!" Was all she said before she fell.

As she landed, she realized he got to her just in time.
Well.

Nicolae did catch her, but then he lost balance as well, ending up laying on the dry leaves on his back.

And Kate, she landed right on top of him. Their bodies pressed against each other.

It had been so long Nicolae hadn't felt the warmth of a human body.

As Kate realized she was on top of him, legs opened, she also realized she was feeling something hard getting more defined by the second, right against the jeans of the overalls.
