"Three cheers for the mighty Demon Dragon Rider!" shouted one of the men from the crowd. Everyone cheered with delight as Sukai and I landed in the center of the city. I just returned from defeating a demon of Alikera up in the Tibetan Mountains, far south from the City of Fikaer.
I jumped off of my dragon as the people lifted me into the air. I was their hero and I never got tired of plenty of happy citizens, smiling and celebrating. I couldn't help but say, "Citizens of the City of Fikaer, the demon of Alikera has been defeated and weary travelers can now travel through the mountain pass safely!"
They cheered even more and girls were swooning over me like demons begging for a taste of my flesh. The people carried me all the way home, where I found my mother and father were waiting for me. I was so happy to see them after the tiring battle.
We never used to live in a nice house that we lived in now. Our house was basically like a tent with no warmth or anything that'd keep us warm in the winter. But that all changed when I went up to the king and begged him to let me be his servant for the money that I could use to get a better house. The king suggested me to do something different. He made me a deal. If I am able to tame the most dangerous dragon that terrorized our country for a while, then he will make sure that my family will get a nice place to stay. So I did it without hesitation and Sukai became my friend from then on.
The people set me down as my mother ran up to me. "Exile, I'm so glad that you came back." she said.
"Mother, you know I always come back," I said. "But I'm so happy to see you alive and well."
"Tonight, we celebrate my son's safe return!" shouted my father. The crowd cheered as my parents led me into our house. "We are so proud of you, my son."
"All I did was battle a low class demon that somehow was eating travelers," I said. I went over to the kitchen as I grabbed an apple and took a bite.
"Exile, you should get changed for tonight," Mother said. I nodded as I made my way upstairs into my room. There was a big window on the left side where Sukai meets me every morning. On the right side was a wooden bed with blankets made out of sheep skin.
I went up to the window to find Sukai already facing me. Hey, Sukai, I thought. He was a green teenage dragon, about the same age as me. He had blue spikes that started from his head and ended at the tip of his tail. His teeth and claws were sharp enough to tear a mountain away from the earth.
Hello, master, he said. I rolled my eyes in annoyance.
"How many times do I have to tell you not to call me that?" I asked.
At least one more, master, he said. I silently laughed as I pulled off ny armor and undershirt. I went over to the side of the bed where a small table stood with jug and bowl of water. Instead of using my hand to wet my face, I poured the entire jug and bowl of water on me. It felt like swimming in a fresh clear lake on a perfect day. I placed them back down and I soon heard a girl calling my name. I went over to look out where I found her standing in front of the house. She wasn't just any girl, she was our house servant, Jayla.
"Welcome home, Jayla," I shouted. I quickly dried myself with Sukai blowing steam and grabbed a random shirt. I put it on while climbing downstairs and rushed to the door. I opened it and Jayla stepped in with a basket of food.
"Exile, how was your mission?" she asked.
"I'm going to tell it to everyone tonight," I answered.
"I see that Sukai is looking fine," she said. She took off her cape and asked me if I could put it away. I nodded and hung it on a hook that was located on the door.
"So, how's your family doing?" I asked. Jayla's family lived on the outskirts on Fikaer and it takes about a two days walk from here.
"They're fine," she replied. "Mother's still upset about Father's death and Finneck and Rosie are trying their best to do everything they can in my stead."
"How did your father die?" I asked.
"He was on his way back from the hunt that was across the Tibetan Mountains and apparently he got poisoned by a demon of Alikera." she explained.
"Well they don't have to worry about it anymore," I reassured her.
"Oh? And why is that?" she asked.
"You'll see tonight,"
