The gathering was being held in the city square where torches blazed around it. I watched some of the men and Father were getting drunk with wine while Mother and a couple of other women were dancing to the music.
And I was stuck with girls, begging me to kiss them or lend them a ride on Sukai. I kissed half of them on the cheek and rode with other half. On the last ride, I could feel Sukai getting tired. "Alright," I said to her. "Sukai needs rest now so you're the last one."
"Awww," she whined. "Why, Exile?"
"If you had a dragon and you could tell how it feels, what would you do?" I asked as Sukai landed.
"I would listen to what it's telling me," she said. I got off and helped the girl off.
"And that's what I'm doing." I said as I watched her run off to her friends. I went over to Jayla, who was sitting on the water fountain. "Why aren't you dancing?" I asked.
"I'm not really a dancer," she said.
"Then, I'll teach you," I grabbed her hand and pulled her into the dancing.
"Exile, I-" she started.
"Just follow my lead, okay?" She bit her lip and nodded as I took her hands as I stepped forward with her stepping back. I then took a step to the side as she followed me.
"Hey, this isn't so bad," she said, grinning.
"Good, are you ready for the spin?" I asked.
"The what?" she was surprised as I spun her once. When the music stopped, I saw her smiling. "That was the most fun I had in years." We went over to a table that was located near the food.
"Well, looks like the fun is about to start," I saw Father getting the attention of the people. But then I saw the king standing beside him.
"My loyal subjects," he said. "As most of you heard, our hero has returned from his mission," The crowd applauded and the king quieted them down. "Exile Reiter, come over here and tell everyone your tale," he pronunced my name wrong...again. Before I became a Demon Dragon Rider, people called me 'Exile'- the one were you are banned to return to your hometown- and said something like 'you should live up to your name'. Why would I do that? I didn't do anything to be exiled.
I got up and went over to the king and Father. As the king passed me, I bowed in respect and made my way up onto the wall of the fountain.
"Here is a tale of my battle between the ferocious demon of Alikera," and I started telling them about it.
