[Zach]
I had known, if only I had known far sooner. I know that the world is unfair and that no one could have known. But still, these things seemed to happen far too often.

That flickering lightbulb of life. You were sick, I of all people knew that of course. But I wanted to help you, now I don't have a degree or a sixth sense of something but I knew you were off today.

Three days had passed. I called and texted with no response. I'd tried visiting but with you being in the ICU I never did see you. I wanted so badly to see you, hear you, something. No one told me anything.

I was completely exhausting myself over the whole matter. I missed you so much.

Sometime after a week or so, I found you. You were asleep in your room again after being transferred from the ICU. Your hair was messy and your face looked so pale and blue-tinted. And yet, in that very moment you just looked so at peace and beautiful. You took in shallow sharp breaths and I held your cold hand.

I told myself you weren't dying, but, in every sense I tried to stop myself from thinking that. We'd both been so close to death too many times. I knew full well you can go both ways from here; better or worse.

Eventually I was pulled away from you. I missed you again. I went to bed that evening resting slightly easier knowing you might be on the mend. My anxieties slowly faded and replaced by warm thoughts. I drifted off quickly.

That night I awoke suddenly to the buzz of my phone. I rolled over and groaned. The clock read 1:00am. I didn't know who would text at this time of night. I sighed and tried to drift off again.

But whoever it was didn't seem to be stopping. Just then, my phone started ringing! I sighed and pushed up on my elbows to check the caller ID.

My heart pounded and my stomach filled with butterflies. It was you...

Alright that was a pretty short chapter but I wanted to leave it on a cliffhanger. I'm trying to update both books because it's been absolutely too long since I uploaded a new chapter. I'll try to update this book ASAP!! Please vote and comment what you think so far.
