I follow Briella into her bedroom. She closes the door behind us.
"I thought your parents said you had to keep the door open?" I ask
"What they don't know won't hurt them." She responds
She crosses the room and sits down on her bed. I can either stand awkwardly or sit with her on the bed. I choose the latter. I purposely leave a reasonable space between us, but Briella closes the gap, scooting next to me so that our legs are touching. I look over at her. She's so beautiful. I could get lost in her eyes. Apparently I do, because the next thing I know, she asks "How long do we have to sit this close for you to kiss me?"
Her question startles me out of my trance. I had been trying to memorize her every feature.
Me: "You want me to kiss you?"
Briella: "No, I've been staring at your lips for the past 2 minutes because I think they're fascinating" she responds sarcastically
Had it really been 2 minutes or was she exaggerating? It felt like only a few seconds. I stare at her for a little while longer, not wanting to forget any detail of this moment. Her eyes search mine intensely. Subtle freckles are scattered across her nose. And her lips...they look so soft.
Briella: "Well? What are you waiting for? A formal invitation?" She teases.
In that moment, all of my self-control has not only worn thin, it's been completely thrown out the window. I grab both sides of her face and kiss her more intensely than I ever could have imagined. We move together in synchronization. Her lips are even softer than I expected. And warm too. My hands find her hair and tangle themselves in it. She lifts the back of my shirt and her hands start moving across my back. My heart is racing so quickly I swear it's going to explode any second now.
