I need an answer Ruth.

Ruth stared at the text on her phone. Isis had worked out an amazing deal with the producer that Ruth wanted to turn her books into movies. Ruth nibbled on her lip as she read the text again. This was Ruth's dream, but could she really give up the farm? It was a hard decision. Ruth wanted to return to living her own life, but she had spent so much time keeping everything afloat.

Ruth dropped her phone onto the couch with a sigh. She stood and wandered over to the big picture window. Ian, Lois, and Philip were standing on the road talking about who knew what. Ruth's eyes strayed back towards her phone. Ruth twisted her engagement ring absentmindedly as she stared at her phone. A soft sigh escaped Ruth as she looked back outside. She wanted to finally be free; free from guilt, free from the pain, and free from those who pretended to care about her.

The phone beckoned to Ruth. The carpet was soft under Ruth's heavy footsteps. I need an answer Ruth. That text glared up at Ruth as she looked down at her phone. Ruth's fingers hovered over the keyboard as the slowly typed out her response.

You know that I want to say yes Isis. It's..just..hard.

Ruth pressed send and waited for Isis to text back. It took only a few seconds for Ruth's phone to chirp.

I understand Ruth. I totally do. Take all the time that you need.

We don't have time for me to do that Isis.

Of course we do. I can string them along for a little while.

Ruth looked back out the window. A deep breath fortified Ruth as she sent Isis another text.

Tell them that I accept. It's time for Ian to take over the farm. It was always going to be his. I have simply been its caretaker.

Oh Ruth, I'm so excited for you! This is a great opportunity.

I know it is. Thank you for standing by me throughout the past few years. I will be forever in debt to you.

I would do it again within a heartbeat Ruth.

Thanks Isis.

No thank you Ruth! You have just made my year!

Lol

Ruth tossed her phone back onto the couch. A smile tugged at Ruth's mouth as she headed into the kitchen to get herself a glass of water. Ruth began to hum a few strains of Blue Danube Waltz. She was happy. Ruth felt as if everything was falling into place. Now all she had left to do was marry the man of her dreams.
