Chapter 15

I got home and and as usual my dad wasn't home, so I just went to my to room plopped face first on my bed. I kicked my shoes off and crawled up on my bed.

I picked up my phone and checked the time, it was a little over 10. I decided I would scroll through my instagram and tiktok before I went to bed, and so I did.

After about an hour and half of scrolling through instagram and tiktok, I started to miss Delilah, so I decided to give her a call. I searched for her name till I found it and taped call. It started ringing.

Once

Twice

Third time

And then she hung up. I was confused as to why she would do that. So I called again, and same thing, I called again and again, but she didn't answer. I was starting to get worried, this wasn't like Delilah. I was going to call again, when I heard the my dad yell for me to come downstairs.

I decided that I'd call her a little later. I ran down the hall and down the stairs, to the kitchen, where I found my dad sitting on one of the chairs at the island.

"Hey dad, welcome back" I said as I walked up to him. "You need something?"

"No I just. . .I just wanted to let you know I'll be going on a business trip to California next week, and I'll be there for at least a month"

"That's fine dad but, why do you look so distressed? Is something going on at work?"

"No son it's. . ." He paused "It's nothing, now go to bed, you have school tomorrow"

"Are you sure? You know I'm always here for you" I said as I placed a hand on his shoulder.

He smiled up at me and said "I'm sure son, now go back to your room and head to bed, I brought home some work with me, so, I'll be up late"

"Alright dad, goodnight"

"Goodnight my boy"

I gave him a tight hug, before running back up the stairs. When I got to my bedroom, I gave Delilah's number another try, but this time her phone was switched off.

I had a bad feeling, but right now I'm too tired to think about it, besides I'm probably worrying for no reason, I'll see her in school tomorrow and, ask her why she didn't pick up the phone.

With that thought in mind, I laid in bed and waited for sleep to come and drag me into complete darkness.

*The next morning*

I woke up to the loud sound of my blaring alarm, telling me to get my lazy ass up. I groaned as I dragged myself out of bed and into my bathroom. I stood under the shower as I let the hot water run down my skin, fully waking me up.

I got out of the shower and got changed. I ran down the stairs and to the kitchen where I saw my dad sitting on one of the chairs at the island.

"Dad? What are you still doing home?"

"Oh, well I thought I'd take a today off since I don't really have many things to do at work today"

"That's great dad, I wish I could spend it with you but I have school" I stated really disappointed at the fact that I couldn't hang out with my dad when he had finaly gotten sometime off work.

"Actually..." my dad stood up and walked over to where I was and put his hands on my shoulders "I phoned your school and told them that you wouldn't be coming I today"

I was surprised, because my dad was nice sure but he was really strict about my studies "wait, really? Your letting me skip school?"

"Just this once, I wanna hang with you, catch up..." his hands dropped from my shoulders and he sighed "Listen, Edgar, I know I've not really been there for you when you needed me, and I know I'm not the best dad in the world but-"

"Nonononono NO" I cut him off "Your the best dad I could ever ask for, without you I'd be nothing I am today, I wouldn't be anything without you. You took care off me when mom left us and took sis with her; you helped get back on my feet dad, without you my world would crumble to pieces. I love you so much dad, and don't ever forget it"

I didn't realise that we both had tears in our eyes. My dad pulled me in for a bear hug and I returned the hug as passionately.

When we pulled away from the hug, my dad looked me in the eyes and smiled widely "I love you too son, so so much, and I also wouldn't be anything without you, you are the best son any man could ask for"

I smiled at my dad and gave a light chuckle "Look at us, we're crying like kids"

My dad laughed, then wiped away the tears on his face "so? Do you wanna spend the day with me?"

"Of course I do dad, why wouldn't I?"

"Ok where do you wanna go?"

"Umm I dunno, you decided, I'll-" I was cut off by the sound of a phone ringing. It was dad's. He brought out the phone and looked at the name on the screen, he was going to decline the call but I stopped him. "answer it dad, it might be important"

He smiled at me and picked up the phone. "Hello? Who is this?"

Dad's face turned pale and he looked up at me.

"It's your mother"

Cliffhanger!!!

Sorry this chapter is so short guys, but I've been losing motivation a lot anddd my exams are starting Monday so I haven't had much time to update.

I hope you liked this chapter, I'll try post more after my exams, but till then....
