"What do you need help with, Thomas?"
He crosses his arms and leans against the railing of the Astronomy Tower. "I need you to find out some information."
I move from my place at the stairs to stand next to him. The world below us is still, quiet, it would be almost serene if I was with anyone other than Tom Riddle.
"What is this information you need?" I don't break my eyes away from the scenery below.
Out of my peripherals I see Riddle turn and place his hands on the railing. We stay silent for a few minutes, both staring down below. The tree branches sway in the slight breeze.
"I need you to find out everything about a man named Marvolo Gaunt. Report to me immediately when you find anything."
I raise my brow, turning to look at him. "What did he do? Piss in your cereal?"
Thomas grips the rail tightly and his jaw clenches. His gaze shifts to me. "Just do what I say, Aidoneus."
"I don't take orders, Riddle. Find it out your damn self."
I turn to step away when Riddle pushes me back against the rail. He traps against his body and the rail, an arm on either side of me. Internally, alarm bells are ringing in my head. The predatory glint in his eyes sets me on edge.
"Curiosity killed the cat, Aidoneus. Didn't anyone ever teach you that?"
My hand pushes against his chest, trying to create more space between us. I push down the unease in my gut. "But satisfaction brought it back."
He leans in further, causing me to lean further backwards over the railing. "If you must know. I have a score to settle. Do not question me further or I'll make it look like you accidently fell from this tower."
My jaw tightens, "Fine."
"Excellent." He steps back, releasing me from being imprisoned.
The silence between us remains as we make our way off the tower. Riddle's eyes stay trained on the back of my head. I swear this boy will attempt to kill me one day soon and if he doesn't I'll be surprised.
Four Hours Later....
I lay my head down on the table. Four hours of straight digging into books for any bit of info about Salazar Slytherin and four hours wasted. I haven't been able to find anything of interest. Of course the damn paranoid bastard of Slytherin House made sure his history was buried away from the rest of us commoners.
Tom Riddle claims to be the Heir of Salazar so I must know what all Riddle will have at his disposal. One wrong move from me could be the cause of so much destruction.
I slam the book shut, sliding out of the chair. Now to search for Marvolo Gaunt. I send the book back to the shelf and walk out of the library, heading towards the entrance of Hogwarts. There is only one place that I may be able to get information about Gaunt.
Glancing around, no one is around so I slip out of the large door quietly. The night air is chilled which sends a shiver down my spine. Hades, being in the warmth of the library really makes it hard to withstand the chill out here.
I continue my trek to the edge of the woods. The darkness of the forest surrounds me with a familiar comfort. The distant rumbles and skittering of creatures in the forest ring in my ears and bring an odd sense of comfort, much like home.
The worn path I am on soon ends. A large gnarled tree stands twisted against the open expanse of sky. The tree stands alone in the center of the circle. Its worn grey branches are bare and the truck is overgrown with red tinted moss. I stand at the edge of the circle, still hidden in the trees.
