The Devotion of Damien And Augustus

"How are you?"

Tanong ko ng makapasok ako sa hospital room ni Haven. I bring her favorite flowers carnation. She smile when she see it and reach for the one stem while I reach her forehead and kissed her.

"Feeling better."

I sat on the chair beside her. She's still admiring the scent and the beauty of the flower. And so am I. Even if she looks weak and pale, she's still beautiful. Her skin still glowing in my eyes. Her smile still melts down my worries for everything.

For a week, ito lang yung naging bisita ko uli sakanya. After feeling secured that there's a lot of people who will look after her, I didn't visit her again. I used the one week to scream my pain. In that way, I could have my confidence to face her again.

Risa  paid a visit last night. I was surprised since I am not expecting anyone to at least say hello to me. I mean, they have their lives and they are busy.

"Magpapakasal na si Risa."

Nakangiti niyang banggit matapos niyang amuyin ang bulaklak. My heart melted the way she smiled. It's been a while since she smile with glow and contentedness.

"Really? When?"

Though Risa mentioned it last night, I won't broke her excitement on telling how Risa come up to get marry early as they planned. She's been wishing to attend one of our friends wedding ceremony that's why her excitement was beyond the way we think.

"Hmmmm.. 2 months from now. And.. they invite me as their maid of honor."

She squealed as she say those words and I chuckle the way she said it. Her cuteness is now spreading on the whole room.

She clasped our hands and rub mine using her thumb. After my heart melted, now it's beating fast than it's normal. I look at her and her eyes are glistening because of her tears.

"You're excited."

Everything was so obvious on her. Did I ever mentioned before that her eyes always speak for her? If I did, well I'm telling you again because those eyes captured me when our first met. Her eyes seek for help back then. I just don't know what she's seeking for.

"I am. I was always excited about attending one of friends wedding. I always dream of catching the bride's flower when she throw it backwards and sit in front of everyone being put a garter on my thighs. But of course, things always happened in unexpected way. I got married without them."

She sniff and about to wipe her tears using the hand I am holding but I approach her cheeks first. She holds my hand first but I won't let her slips it away just because of a tears.

"Thank you... but I want you to know that I am not regretting marrying you."

"Really?"

It happened that I am the teary - one now. She wasn't regretful though I know she doubt it before we do it. But nonetheless, she wasn't regretful and that makes my heart glow more.

"Of course, I asked you to marry me. I know what I am doing then. I love you, Augustus."

From melting and beating fast, now my heart stop without getting slowly to remind me that there's something coming. And it did. It came without the notice that I need to make this damn heart stop.

I was so young when the first time I love her and I was today's years old when I heard to the woman I first love with all of my heart that she loves me too.

I didn't notice my tears are streaming down. I really want to wipe those tears but these tears are meant for happiness. It should be shred because my heart can't contain it.
