Chapter Five: Thousand Years
// Shady's Point of View //

Slowly but surely, Destiny and Azalea started to wake up. The boys had been awake for a while and had been sitting there in the living room dozing off every now and then. I was in the kitchen, softly singing I'm not a Vampire by Falling in Reverse. Destiny squeaked when she recognized the song and started to sing along with me. As I was finishing the dishes Taylor sluggishly came down the stairs and went over to where Azalea was lying as she tried to get off the couch. He pushed her bangs behind her ears and stroked his thumb against her cheek. Taylor migrated over to the kitchen and started to cut up breakfast potatoes and cook them over the stove. With Destiny singing with me, my voice got louder and clearer. My belting didn't last for long, as Taylor shushed me rudely and pointed to the living room. I rolled my eyes but got a little softer, but still clear.

"Shady, you're an amazing singer!" Destiny praises. I shook my head and started to load the dishwasher with dirty dishes.

"I sing in the shower all the time, I guess over the years my voice matured and got better." I said in dismissal of the compliment I was given. Azalea groaned from her spot on the couch, the pain in her head finally registering with her body. Taylor left me in charge of the potatoes and rushed to Azalea's side.

"You okay babe?" he asked her as he ran his fingers through her hair. She shook her head.

"My head hurts," she whined softly. I dropped the dish towel that was in my hands and fished in the medicine cabinet to find ibuprofen. Once that was successful I went into the living room and handed Taylor a glass of water and the small pill bottle. Taylor nodded at me in thanks and I went back over to the kitchen to finish the potatoes. Once they were completely cooked I removed the pan they were in off the heat and scooped them up onto my plate before squirting a bit of ketchup off to the side. Destiny followed me and grabbed a plate of her own. I sat down at the table and wondered why Jack hesitated when he repeated what he had whispered to me.

I felt an unketchuped potato flying towards me and hit me straight in the forehead. "What the hell was that for?!" I exclaimed as I flicked it off of my face. Destiny glared at me light.y

"I was just trying to ask you if you've seen Jack since the party. Do you know where he went?" she asked me. I gave her a sheepishly smile.

"Yeah, his parents were getting worried about him so he went home." I lied smoothly. I felt Destiny's eyes scrounge my face for any flicker of evidence that I wasn't being truthful. I had completely emptied my plate so I grabbed it and washed it off in the sink before placing it carefully in the dishwasher. As I head up the stairs I check my phone. One unread message.

Still thinking about you! :)- Jack

I didn't answer. I just sat there and listened to music, thinking of a reponse that wouldn't sound like I was flirting with him. I couldn't think of any. Eventually I gave up and threw my phone on my bed, yanking my earbuds out of my ears painfully in the process. I ran my hands through my hair and paced around the room.

Why did I love him so much? Why did I fall for him so fast and so hard? Why couldn't he love me back?

Questioned filled my heads and tears filled my eyes. I wiped them away quickly. I was not weak and I wasn't going to waste tears on someone who didn't care about me. Destiny came in and grabbed her phone and climbed up into her bunk silently. I grabbed my phone and saw that I had another message.

Are you mad at me or just ignoring me? :(- Jack

I didn't answer the text. I wanted to tell him everything. I wanted to tell him about when I hit him, I wanted to tell him that I loved him, I wanted to explain everything. But I couldn't. That would have ruined the friendship we had, though I wasn't helping at the time.
