Finnick

"𝓕𝓲𝓷𝓷𝓲𝓬𝓴."

I smiled at the sound. She said my name like I was a friend, and not a patient who was half mental, even if it might've been true. I spun on my heels, lolling my head to the side as I turned around to face her.

"Katniss." I could hear the smile in my voice. She strolled into the room, straight toward me.

As she reached up to embrace me, she muttered, "You certainly seem to be doing a lot better."

I smiled to her as we pulled away, taking seats in the business-esque room.

"Feeling better, after some help." she gave me a confused look before I continued, "Tora came to visit. Snuck in and gave me a pep-talk."

She nodded at this.

"Alright, how does this work?"

We focused our attention on a very sober Haymitch, much to my surprise. He pushed a button and hummed to himself, quite proud he'd figured it out on his own.

A video, a propo, as Plutarch had called it, flashed on the screen. Katniss along with a fake entourage of soldiers and citizens cheering in the background, came up. Against the setting sun, fighter aircrafts flew through the sky in perfect formation.

I scrunches my nose at the sheer fakeness of it all.

"People of Panem, we fight! We dare! We end this hunger for justice!"

And the screen returned to some kind of war plan.

Silence.

I peered over to Katniss, who was busy finding interest in the floor.

Luckily, Haymitch broke the awkward tension.

'Uh, Madame President, indulge me for a moment, if you would. Let's everybody think of one incident where Katniss Everdeen genuinely moved you. Not- not where you were jealous of her hairstyle or her dress went up in flames or she made a halfway decent shot with an arrow-" Katniss glared at him as he continued. "And not where Peeta made you like her. No, I'd like you all to think of one moment where she made you feel something real."

"Oh!" Effie raised her hand excitedly. "When she volunteered for her sister at the reaping."

Effie looked kindly to the girl as Haymitch nodded his head, turning around in the process.

"Excellent example, Effie. Okay. Now-" He raised his hand to the monitor, using his sleeve to wipe away the war plans that were obviously important. I smirked.

"I hope that wasn't important. Uh- okay." He muttered under his breath. "Volunteer for sister. Good, what else?"

Effie spoke up again. "When she sang that song. For little Rue." She cooed at this last part.

"Oh, yeah. Who didn't get choked up at that?" Haymitch started. "You know, I like you better, Effie, without all that makeup." He motioned towards his face as he wrote down the suggestion.

"Well, I like you better sober."

Haymitch wasn't pleased with that.

Beetee spoke up before anymore words could be exchanged between the two. "When she chose Rue as an ally, as well."

"Yes." Effie whispered, holding a hand to her heart.

Haymitch turned around after writing. "Now, what do all these have in common?"

Gale knew Katniss well enough to say the problem without the suggestions. "No one told her what to do."

Beetee had an epiphany. "Unscripted, yes."
