jungkook was annoying to jimin. he was cocky, hung out with the meanest people in the grade, and there was an aura around him that made jimin think that he wasn't being honest about something.
what that something was, jimin could care less. jimin has never despised anyone more than that stupid baseball jock.
"he's really not that bad, min," namjoon tries, and jimin scoffs and glares at his childhood best friend. "he hangs out with min yoongi. do you not know who that guy is? he got into a fight with the coach for 'not counting enough points'. the coach of all people," jimin bends down his two fingers when quoting the basketball player with a frustrated frown.
"don't even get me started on how cocky that jeon is. he thinks he can do no wrong." the student council president huffs, slumping in his seat and glaring at the cafeteria table. "do you wanna know what i think?" namjoon asks after taking a few sips out from his juice box, allowing his best friend to calm down a bit. "what is it?" jimin sighs out, sitting upright and picking at his food.
"i think you're upset because he really can't do anything wrong." namjoon says simply, gently placing his now empty juice carton on the table. "what?" jimin snaps his head up from his food and narrows his eyes at namjoon who shrugs with a small grin.
"it's true, what you said. he can't do anything wrong, so he's stuck in that mindset that he can't, and it only fuels him to do better. it's a repeating cycle, really." namjoon takes a bite from his lunch. "and it bothers you because you've always been in second place."
jimin's blood boils at the thought of it. he was a good student, one of the best. he was on top until freshman year when jeon jungkook moved to seoul and immediately took away his spotlight by doing everything better than him. it never seemed to change, and it was indeed like a continuous cycle like namjoon said. no matter what jimin did, no matter how hard he busted his ass to study, no matter how many plans he cancelled. jungkook always seemed to be on top.
it wouldn't bother jimin as much as it did if jungkook would just shutthe fuckup about it.
"better luck next time, park," he would say, before turning into, "everybody said that you were amazing at school, so why're you always below me?" and going as far as, "are you even trying anymore, park? it's not even by a few points anymore," or even, "oh, mr president, i think your term of office is nearly over," and he would laugh, after talking to jimin like he was a kindergartner. his tone was feigning sweetness, with an exaggerated lisp.
it frustrated jimin to the bone, made him shake with aggravation, considering he was supposed to be the best of the best since he was the student council president.
"i hate that kid," jimin grits out.
"admiring me from afar, mr president?" jimin hears behind him, and immediately recognizes the tone of the whiny brat. jimin rolls his eyes and stands, facing jungkook and yoongi, who smirked with a sucker in his mouth. "you wish." jimin spits, causing jungkook to laugh with feigned amusement, wiping away a fake tear.
