It was October thirteenth, ninety eighty in a small town called Peachtree Arkansas. Max and Dixie had just arrived in peachtree, from the town called Orange Hill California.

They look at the time, noticing it was six in the morning and no one was on the streets. Max Conroy age tweety one years old with short blonde hair and blue eyes.

He is 5 ft 8, heavy set and kind-hearted, as well as giving . Max loves his fiance with all his heart and wouldn't give her up for anything.

He wore blue jeans, brown western boots and a white tank top with a leather belt. Dixie Stewart age nineteen years old was long red hair and blue eyes.

She is five foot six, skinny and loving as well as caring. Dixie wore a short silky red dress and red cowboy boots, as well as gold hoop earrings.

They were tired so Max and Dixie went looking for a place to stay at, until the realtors office of Buckingham and scout opened up. After a while, they had found a old hotel, as they pulled into the parking lot and stepped out.

The outside was a 1960s hotel, it is painted blue with white trim and glass doors. There is a sign, that hung above the door way and it said Betty's comfort inn, in white neon.

To the right of the building, is a medium parking lot and there is a white sign, that sits on the left of the driveway. The metal sign says hotel parking only, in silver lettering and trespassers will be towed away.

Max and Dixie stepped out of their blue Ford pickup with trailer, as they grab their suitcases out of the back. They walked up to the front door, while she turned the knob and started opening it to go inside.

While opening it, the door squeaked and Dixie turned to Max,"This place is old all right," She said to him with a chuckle.

Max couldn't help himself, as he started laughing,"Yes my love, it is," He said to her, after he stopped laughing.

The two of them stepped inside, noticing the walls were white with tan trim and old hardwood floors. To the left of the door, is a big pain glass window and two antique wooden chairs stood in front of it.

There is a small circle glass table with brass shaped legs, that sat in between them. To the right of the door is another pain glass window, that has the same chairs and table in front of it.

There is a black couch, that sat in the middle of both sides of the room and a glass coffee table with brass legs, sat in front of it.

There is a black counter, that sits up against the left middle wall with a white coffee maker in the center of it and to the right of that, has all kinds of condiments.

To the left side of the table, is a pastry dish with a assortment of complementary danishes and donuts. There is a chandelier that hung above the middle of the room and it had lots of crystals hanging from it.

Betty's hotel is three stories high and you can tell, it needs lots of work done to it. Max and Dixie walked inside, making their way over to the black couch and set their bags down next to it.

After that was done, Max and Dixie walked up to this antique counter and you can tell, it needed to be restored. Dixie turn to Max,"It's nice in here, but they need to restain the counter," She said to him with a whisper.

Max agreed with her, since it did seem like a quiet place and Dixie rung the silver bell, to get service. When they looked up, there was a gray-headed heavy set woman that walked up to the counter and she had on a purple nightgown with yellow flowers on it.

"Hi my name is Betty, can I help you?" She asked them with a low voice.

Betty Lawrence age sixty five years old, she is five foot six and has owned the hotel for five months. Only if I knew now, what I didn't know then She thought to herself with a straight face, waiting for them to say something.

"We need a room for a couple of nights, if you don't mind," Max said to her with a yawn.

"Okay," Betty said back to them with a low tone, handing him the sign-in log and a pen.

"By the way, my name is Max and this is my fiance Dixie, we are moving here from California," He said to her with a smile, as he was feeling the paper out.

"It will be fifty dollars a night, cash or credit?" She said to him, since she was not wanting to make much noise.

"Credit please," Max said to her with a curious look on his face, as he handed Betty one of his credit cards.

"Okay," She said to him, before grabbing his car to run it. When she was done doing that, Betty handed him the slip to sign and his credit card.

"Here is your key, your room number is five fifty one and it's on the third floor," she told him, before handing it to him.

"Thank you," They said to her was a sigh, as they started to walk away.

When Dixie heard "you should go back, where you came from," Betty said to them with a mean voice.

They look at each other She is acting strange Max in Dixie thought to themselves, before grabbing their luggage and headed to the elevator.

After they got there, Max pushed the up button since the two of them was going to the third floor . Max leaned over to kiss Dixie, when the doors opened up and they stepped inside.

The two of them was really cautious, since the elevator looked like a old one that never been maintained for a long time . Max and his fiance put their arms around each other and started kissing one another.

When the elevator came to a complete halt a few seconds later and stopped between floors. Max and Dixie realized, that they were stuck between the second and third floor.

She looked over at him, "My love, can you get the elevator going please?" Dixie asked Max with a scared look on her face.

"I'll see what I can do,"He said to her with a kind voice, as he walked over to the door. When Max got there, all of a sudden it started working again as they continued the rest of the way and when they stopped, the doors wouldn't open.

He decided to pry them open by hand and when they were open,"Dam... Finally here,"She said out loud. They stepped into the hallway and headed to the room, noticing how the walls was peeling and the floor needed to be varnished.

While making their way to the room, Dixie felt a light breeze go by her and it gave her a chill . She stopped all of a sudden "Did you feel that?" Dixie asked her fiance, wondering if it was just her imagination.

"I felt a light breeze,"He said to her with a loving voice. I wonder, why she's asking me that for Max thought to himself, while looking over at Dixie.

"That's what I'm talking about, it felt like something brushed up against me," She said out loud to him with a weird look on her face.

"Okay, I only felt a breeze,"He said to her with a surprise look on his face.

When they made it to the room, Max and locked it and it was hard to get the door open, it felt like someone or something was holding it closed. He had to put his body into the door, to open it but Max saw nothing on the other side of it.

"I've never had a door do that before," Max said to Dixie with a dumbfounded look on his face.

"I have a bad feeling about this place," She said to him with a word look on her face.

"Why don't you go and get a hot bath, it might help," He said back to her with a kind voice.

"I will in a minute," Dixie said back to him with a straight face. She started looking around the room and noticed the walls were white with red trim with a dark red carpet.

The lighting was dim with a heart-shaped bed and the bed spread was red with white trim, as it's set up against the right middle wall.

"I'm going to go get soda and the bottle of Jack Daniels from one of the stores," He said to her with a wink .

"Okay, I'll go grab the ice," Dixie said to Max with a uneasy feeling, but knew the ice machine was a few feet away. After a few minutes, she had gotten back to the room and set the bucket down, on the old wooden table.
