At the hokage's office, Shikamaru, Kakashi, Sasuke and Konohamaru were holding a meeting when Naruto entered. They all saw it wasn't the same Naruto that he was before Hinata's death, but he wasn't either the one they'd been seing the past few days. Something had changed within him. Before they could open their mouths, he spoke:

—I'm going to go after Kimochi; he's got my wife's body and I want to retrieve it so that she can rest. I'm going to face him... not with vengeance, but as an enemy that has targeted us. I know we can't defeat him, and that's not the purpose of this mission; the sole intention is to get my wife's body. I need Sasuke for this mission. Do I have your support?

Sasuke nodded with an affirmative response and Shikamaru and Kakashi seconded him. Konohamaru, happy to see Naruto finally up and out of the bedroom, said:

—Niisan, I'm glad your back. Never doubt that we will always have your back.

—Thank you, Konohamaru. Now, Should we part?

—Not so fast...

A voice from behind surprised everyone, and the character that emerged was as much a surprise as the voice: it was Toneri.

—Why are you here, Toneri? You said you would never come to earth again.

—I'm here for the Byakugan Princess, Naruto. She was my student and we eventually bonded as friends. I want to help capture Kimochi.

—Stop lying. And how did you find out about my wife's death? Besides, this is only a retrieving mission, we don't stand a chance against him.

—I'm not lying, she was my student. And I knew she died because Kimochi went to see me demanding to remove the seal on "some byakugan eyes". The moment I saw them, I knew whom they belonged to. I told him that it was impossible, that it was a very strict seal.

—A seal? Her eyes were sealed? How? How do you know all that?

—As I already said, she was my pupil. This, as you can tell, was not of the public eye and I also did not mention it to Kimochi. And I sealed her eyes as per her request. She wanted her eyes to belong to her only... She knew only the secondary branch family had a seal on their eyes, but she asked me to perform it on her, which I did. A wise decision, I see now, since Kimochi wasn't able to use her eyes.

—What? Why? When? How? Why she never said anything? —Naruto asked, unable to believe what he was hearing.

—It was part of the arrangement. She became my pupil soon after our encounter. She asked if I could teach her. At first, I was reluctant, but I eventually agreed. However, I did not break my promise to not come down, she was the one going to the moon to train. This is my first time here.

Toneri said that knowing he was lying; he'd come down the first time he spoke with Hinata. But, at that moment, such information was irrelevant and would only cause more mess. So, he kept that to himself.

—Why would she hide it from me?

—I don't have an answer to that. But I do know that, most of anything, she wanted to be able to protect her family when you couldn't. In this battle, I can be of use, and I want to help give Hinata some peace.

—And why do you think you can help? Not even Sasuke and I together can defeat him.

—With me, we might have a chance at defeating him. When Kimochi visited me, he told me that those byakugan eyes had a particular jutsu, reserved only for the Ootsutsuki, and that it was that jutsu the one that allowed you, Naruto, and your son to escape. I taught Hinata that jutsu. I can perform it, but at my own level, since Hinata made it her own and perfected it.

—Fine, you'll come with us. Sasuke, let's go. The mission changes from extraction to annihilation.
