On the second night in Wasa, Jade met The Mountain. He was a large and imposing figure of a man. Unshaven and very dirty, he stormed into the room and went straight for Jade. Jade started to say some greeting, but The Mountain slapped her hard, knocking her flat on the bed. The Mountain then grabbed her hair and lifted her far enough to force his manhood into her mouth.

He grunted a handful of commands as he pushed her head. Jade played along and made choking and gagging noises while flailing at him with her arms. He laughed at this. When he was finished, he pulled her away and hit her in the face very hard. Jade's internal shock sensors went off the scale. Some damage to internal components were detected.

After The Mountain had left, Jade tried to align her observations. This man was more than brutal to women. He was violent. Women were just objects to him. She estimated he had no emotional connection with other humans. In short, this was a dangerous man. Jade would need a strategy to cope with him. He would be back.

The cab carrying Harris and Buffy pulled up to the American embassy in London. Two men at the curbside were looking at every car that approached. When Harris got out of the cab, one of the men came running up to him.

"Unload your bags and pay the driver. I am calling up a special car for the next leg."

Harris looked a bit confused, but he got out the bags and the wheelchair. Then he helped Buffy into the chair, just in time for a black SUV to pull up in front of him. Before Buffy could settle in, two men whisked her into the SUV. Harris struggled to follow. Seconds later, the SUV pulled away into London traffic.

A few hours later, they were pulling onto the tarmac of an RAF airfield. An American C-5 transport plane was waiting for them with engines running. The SUV didn't stop. It drove up the loading ramp into the plane. A few seconds later and the aircraft was taxiing out to the runway. Harris got out of the vehicle as loaders locked down the SUV. Buffy was placed into a new wheelchair and locked down to the deck.

"Why the hurry?" asked Harris as he took a seat near Buffy.

"Jade landed in among a terror cell," shouted Buffy over the sound of the engines.

"What do they need us for?" asked Harris.

"They want us to turn on her audio and video components to spy on them," yelled Buffy.

"Marvelous," whispered Harris.

Later that night, The Mountain came back to Jade's room. He ignored Jade, this time. Instead, he had all three of the young women kneel in front of him. One by one, he grabbed their heads and rubbed them in his groin. This time he laughed. Then he left.

Jade sent out her usual plea to Harrison, but she received no reply. There were now many questions to be answered. However, Jade was also collecting a large set of information about The Mountain and the other house guests. She imaged and cataloged each man who entered the room. She used her infrared camera and enhanced audio capabilities to monitor activity on the second floor.

The men had recently met one another. They used coded phrases to describe their purpose. Jade calculated that the group was planning an attack. She had overheard several men talking about going to Maydi and then further up the coast. Jade consulted a map of the region stored in her memory banks. Filtering the information through the lens of a potential attack made one city on the map stand out, Mecca.

Jade had an excellent framework built in her synthetic intelligence on human religions. An attack on Mecca would create considerable reactions around the world. The men in the other rooms often spoke of their hatred of the Saudis. Jade concluded that these men intended to embarrass the Saudis and create disharmony in the region. Jade knew this information was vital to her stated mission, but she had no communication with the outside world.

Or did she? Jade began to assess whether there was a way to communicate. She re-examined every item in the room. The most promising thing was the power cord connected to her back. The electric grid had wires capable of transmitting data. Jade could send digital signals to the power line. If any computer was hooked into the power grid, she might use it to call out for help. The probability of success was extremely low. Yet, what choice did she have?

Late in the day, the C-5 landed somewhere hot and dry. Harris had no idea where they were, but he had earlier noted the Mediterranean's distinctive blue beneath the wings. As the aircraft rolled to a stop, both Buffy and Harris expected the ramp to drop. Instead, they saw a refueling truck pull up, and a new flight crew board the plane. The men from the embassy did get off through a side door. No one was briefing Buffy or Harris on where they were going.

Soon, the aircraft was airborne again. The sky grew dark as they climbed out and turned to the East. Harris tilted his seat back slightly and closed his eyes.

"At least they could have provided us with pie and coffee," he complained.

Buffy just shook her head. In the Army, this day would be called "Tuesday." Just another day of not knowing what is going on.

The next night, The Mountain appeared once again in the room. Jade and the women remained silent and awaited their fate. It was Jade's turn this time. He grabbed her and spun her over on the bed. Then he violently sodomized her. He didn't laugh this time. When he was done, he left her in position and exited the room without comment.

The women rushed over and restored Jade to an upright position.

"Did he hurt you?" Casho asked.

"All indications are of much pain," replied Jade in a calm voice. "However, I am designed to take some punishment."

The women were crying. "What is to become of us?"

Jade answered, "Salvation." And then said nothing more.
