"Julian, eh? I expected something more... Scary. Like Spike, or Draco!" I joked, nudging him a tad.
He immediately gave me daggers back, glaring straight into my eyes, then nearly growling in this low, raspy, voice.
"Don't test me."
Self note: Never do that again. Tall boys in forests really don't like jokes.
"You aren't wondering how I knew your name? Or why I know every. Little. Detail. About you?"
His glare intensifies. I can pretty much hear him grit his teeth into a scary grin. Everything I've noticed so far about this dude just screams edgy teenage malice.
But hey, you can't go wrong with an E-boy with a knife who wants you dead (maybe).
"Well, that'd be my next question, Jules."
I can almost hear my teeth grit once again as he speeds towards me, quick as a flash, pins me to the nearest tree, and holds a kitchen knife to my throat.
Unholy shit, when did he learn to do that? Can people even run that fast? And how'd he sharpen that knife? More importantly, where'd he get it?
He scoffs.
"I've had enough of that mouth of yours, Keiji. I don't do pet names. I don't do sarcasm. I don't do humor. And I certainly don't do whatever kind of immaturity you seem to radiate. I don't do fools."
I man up as soon as my body will let me, bowing my head at a 45-degree angle to him.
"My apologies, sir."
I don't know what's with this douche, but this man seriously needs to lighten the fuck up.
I almost forget I'm being held at knifepoint. I shake my head, clearing myself from whatever may have just come over me.
"That's better, although there really is no need to be so formal. Simple as it is, don't call me Jules, and we'll be alright here. I will not take kindly to disrespect. You are to treat me with respect, as it is a privilege that I've revealed my identity to you. From this moment on, I am your superior. Nothing else. Stick around longer, and if your lucky, you'll be an acquaintance. Trust is earned, not given."
He took the knife away from my jugular, before swiftly turning onto a path, motioning for me to come forward.
Did I mention I'm still panicked? It's not every day you get held at knifepoint...
"Follow, Keiji. You've got a lot to learn, and not enough midnight to do it."
His tone softened. Is this guy bipolar or something? You can't just flip like that...
The moonlight guides us down a sketchy, manmade path in the woods. I'm half-convinced I'm headed to my own execution.
I perish the thought. He would've killed me eight years ago if he wanted. Why wait until I'm 22 anyway?
I can see a faint outline of a house in the distance.
Phew. Not dying tonight, I hope.
Or maybe I am? Who knows... That guy can't keep his attitude in check, and from my experience, he's got a thing for dominance, in the worst way possible.
Who shoves another person against a tree over a stupid nickname anyway? Not me, I'm sure.
I attempt to break the deadly silence.
"So, when was the last time you saw anything that wasn't the woods?"
I struck a nerve, I can tell. He winces at me, in some *very* obvious emotional pain.
