11) Mishaan ki Pari is a passing cloud
'Decide karegi ya nahi?'
Pari looked at her daadi, a frown on her face. It was her supposed second last day in Mumbai. Thankfully she had already applied for a month's visa to India, knowing very well that Mumbai and mishaps went hand in hand. And of course, Mishti and Daadi would do anything to keep her longer.
'Abh tak nahi,' She said, sitting with her head down, as daadi and Bua glared at her.
'What do you wanna do?' Bua asked, sitting next to the almost okay daadi, 'Tell us something Pari! You're here for 5 days now, I don't know one thing about your life in three years. Is it really nothing or we are nothing for you?'
Pari with another deep breath, looked at both her elderly ladies, 'It is not that. You both mean a lot to me.'
'Dikh raha hai,' Bua said, pretty upset on her favorite girl.
Pari sighed, her head in her hands as she sat on the sofa across the two cross ladies. Bua was about to rant again when Radhika held her arm, telling her to calm down and signalling that she'll handle it. Radhika looked at her tired daughter and called her towards them.
The tired girl pushed herself to her grandmother, sitting on a stool as Radhika lovingly held her hand in her old hands. Pari warmed up at her touch, feeling better already as Radhika sweetly dusted Pari's shoulder from any dirt and propered her top.
'Now I'm just going to ask you some questions, which you have to answer truthfully or I'll die,'
Pari immediately groaned, 'Please don't talk like this. Please.'
Bua chuckled but straightened herself soon enough, she knew with enough drama Radhika could help the case.
'Sukhu, tell her how people die if they lie in a kasam,'
'Yes they do,'
Pari rolled her eyes, 'I am not 5 year old, okay. I'm 25 now.'
'But for me you'll still be that 5 year old who walked to me for the first time with such cute eyes and big chubby cheeks and beautiful smile,' Daadi said touching Pari's chin, making the latter smile.
'Alright,' Pari raised both her hands mid-way in the air, 'I will speak the truth, okay?'
Radhika and Bua nodded and Radhika again took Pari's hand in hers, 'Arnav ki engagement hai. Same Arnav who was your best friend for twenty something years. Right?'
Pari nodded.
'Okay, the same Arnav who loved you so much once that nothing else mattered to him but your smile. Right?'
Pari sighed but she nodded, not liking where this was heading.
'Same Arnav, who even though being rejected by you, still made sure you had him every time. When Ruhaan broke your heart, he was there. When Mishti and you fought, he was there. When I was upset with you, he was there. Right?'
'Yes, he was there.'
'Good, so you know,' Daadi said with a small smile, tucking Pari's hair strand behing her ear lovingly, 'So the guy who was always there with you. From your first beer to your first cigarette, from crushes to love, from friend to family, he was there. And you were too.'
Pari smiled unintentionally, understanding what her grandmother was trying to show her as Bua held Pari's hand offering comfort, 'So, that Arnav,' Radhika said, with a smile, 'He needs you now. He wants his best friend, his first everything to be with him at his most important day. Truth be told Arnav would not want any of us, including his family if you stand by him. Right. Forget whatever happened in these three years, they're nothing compared to what you shared with Arnav for so many years.
