My personal opinion on this novel is that it is very well written and immediately captured my attention from the first sentence. The only thing I have to say against it is that the author seems to focus too much on descriptions, which isn't terrible but it is too thorough. I highly, HIGHLY recommend this novel, as it opened my eyes and it may open up yours to the reality of slavery and it's impact on a black person living at the time's mind.
