The Resident grew up as all other children. Everything about his life was normal, and he was happy. As he got older, it became apparent he wasn’t like everyone else. He was a bit of an introvert, but he was brilliant and destined for greatness. He grew with all the other kids, and when it was time, he went to a great college. He graduated with all honors and his parents and little sister were oh, so proud.
Then, he dropped off the grid. He had finally had enough with people, so he decided to move to a small town and live alone. He worked for himself and never made any new friends. He had everything he needed delivered to his house and he hadn’t left his property in years. His vast knowledge of technology made it easy for him to check up on his family and he was happy with how he was living.
The Resident only ever needed the Resident. Everyone else would just get in the way. And so life went on, and the world kept on spinning, and his mother kept on crying, and this is the way he decided things would be. Always.
