Chapter 3: Round Two

We return with our heroes getting ready for Riolu's second fight with the wild Zangoose. "Alright, are we all ready?" Izaiah asked as he finished packing his things into his bag. "Ruff, Rawr, Saur," Riolu, Litten, and Bulbasaur said to Izaiah as they finished their Oran berries. "I think they are more than ready," Paul said with a smirk on his face. "Ok Riolu remember we trained all day and night yesterday, are you ready to beat that Zangoose?" Izaiah asked Riolu while also smiling at him. "Ruff, Ruff," Riolu said to Izaiah, pumped and excited. "Well that answers my question then let's go," Izaiah said to the crew while he, Litten, and Riolu headed towards the same area they were at yesterday. "Alright come on Bulbasaur let's go too," Paul said to his pokemon while following behind Izaiah into the woods.

In The Woods while the crew was on their way to the location Riolu out of nowhere stopped Izaiah right in his tracks, "Riolu what's wrong?" Izaiah asked in confusion. Riolu responds by pointing at Litten then to Izaiah and then at himself. "I don't understand?" Paul said, trying to think of what Riolu was trying to allude to. "I think he wants me to help him with this battle. Like how we help our pokemon in battle." Izaiah said to Paul while staring at Riolu. "Ruff, Ruff," Riolu said to Izaiah while wagging his tail happily. "But won't that be cheating?" Paul asked in confusion, "I think it would be but just in case if it's ok with the Zangoose or if Zangoose tries to cheat then I'll be glad to help you out alright." Izaiah said to Riolu. "Ruff," Riolu said with an understanding nod. "Alright now let's go do this battle," Izaiah said as they continued walking.

IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WOODS the crew was one minute early and were waiting for the Zangoose to arrive. "Ok Riolu, remember the training. Don't use just Metal Claw in this fight. Also well ask the Zangoose about what we talked about." Izaiah said as the crew heard something in the bushes. "Looks like Zangoose has arrived. Get ready." Izaiah said as the Zangoose jumped out of the bushes and got ready for the battle. "Zangoose," Zangoose asked Riolu if he was ready for the rematch. "Ruff, Ruff, Ruff, Ruff," Riolu asked Zangoose if Izaiah could participate in the fight by helping himself out. "Zangoose," Zangoose said with a snarky smile on his face thinking that Riolu was so weak and the least he thought he could do was give Riolu a little boost since Zangoose won last time with ease.

With Zangoose's permission, Riolu turned to Izaiah and gave him a nod letting him know that it's ok. "Ok then let's do this," Izaiah said to Riolu as Riolu was ready for the fight. "Paul if Zangoose tries anything, have Bulbasaur use a Vine Whip on him alright," Izaiah told Paul as he got ready for the battle as well. "Alright, Riolu give this your all." Izaiah told Riolu as Zangoose started the fight by charging Riolu with Scratch, "Now Riolu dodge it and go for a Quick Attack." Izaiah told Riolu as Zangoose was only a few steps away from hitting his attack. Then as Zangoose was about to land his attack Riolu dodges it then tackles Zangoose with great speed, "Good job Riolu now use Metal Claw." Izaiah said to Riolu as Zangoose struck Riolu back with his own Quick Attack. As Riolu got hit he fell to the ground then Zangoose jumped in the air getting ready to use Fury Cutter as he was in the air Riolu jumped back up then got in a blocking position.

"Riolu watch out!" Izaiah shouted as Zangoose landed a Fury Cutter but Riolu seemed to only be phased by the attack a little. Then Riolu's paw started to glow and form into Metal Claw. "Zangoose," Zangoose said in confusion as he got hit by Riolu's Metal Claw. "Ok, Riolu now Quick Attack then Metal Claw." Izaiah told Riolu as Zangoose was going for a Quick Attack as well, "Come on Riolu you can do this!" Izaiah said in confidence. "Ruff," Riolu said as Zangoose and he charged at each other with Quick Attack then when as they landed their attacks Zangoose went for a final blow with Fury Cutter and Riolu did the same but with Metal Claw.

As they charged to one another all that the rest of the crew could do was hope that Riolu wins. Then after they struck each other with their attacks they stood still on each side. There was tension between everyone in the area then Riolu went down on one knee looking like he lost the fight but Zangoose fell to the ground losing the fight instead. "Great job Riolu you did it!" Izaiah said to Riolu as Riolu walked to Zangoose while he was still on the ground. "Zangoose," Zangoose said to Riolu telling him to finish him but instead of that Riolu reaches his paw out to help the pokemon up back on his feet. With a look of recollection, he just gave Riolu and Izaiah a nod of approval then left back into the woods. "You showed him what's up. You did a great job Riolu." Izaiah told Riolu "Ruff, Ruff, Ruff," Riolu said to Izaiah telling him that he could not do this without him and the others' help. "Well you're welcome for helping you out with this and I hope our training will help you out in the future," Izaiah said to Riolu as Paul and Bulbasaur got ready to head back to the camp. "Ok, Litten we should go now. See you later Riolu I hope you become a strong pokemon and a great fighter in the future but until then adios Riolu." Izaiah said as he and Litten followed behind Paul and Bulbasaur back to the camp but as they left Riolu followed way behind them.

Back At Camp, the crew starts packing up camp and getting ready to head to Trower Town. "You know Izaiah you could have caught Riolu. Then he could have traveled with us and would have been a great help with the gym." Paul said to Izaiah while he was finishing packing up his things. "Your right I could have but it was his choice if he wanted to come or not, and he didn't and that's fine I'll find another way to beat the gym but until then we have to get to Trower," Izaiah said as he put on his backpack. Then they heard something in the nearby bushes and as they heard the sound the crew stood still waiting for something or someone to come out and out of the bushes, then Riolu pops out. "Riolu what are you doing here?" Izaiah asked in confusion. "Ruff, Ruff, Ruff," Riou told Izaiah telling him how he helped him become stronger than he was and how he felt like he could do more with his help. "Looks like Riolu wants to join us after all," Paul said to Izaiah as Riolu pointed at Izaiah and Litten then to himself then got in a battle-ready pose. "Ok, then we'll do this your way Riolu. Alright, Litten let's do this." Izaiah told Litten as he got a pokeball ready in hand.

"Litten use Flamethrower!" Izaiah said to Litten as Riolu started with a Quick Attack. "Rawr," Litten growled as he fired a stream of fire at Riolu while he dodged the attack and then hit Litten with his Quick Attack, "Ok now use Scratch!" Izaiah said as Riolu got ready to use Metal Claw. Then Litten rushed to Riolu with small claws coming out of his paws and hitting Riolu with a Scratch in the last second before Riolu got to use Metal Claw, sending him jumping back. As he landed on the ground he got ready to take down Litten with a Quick Attack while Litten stood still until Riolu got closer, "Litten use Flamethrower!" Izaiah said as Litten fired another flamethrower attack at Riolu hitting him and as Riolu got knocked back. As Riolu got back up he nodded to Izaiah giving him the signal to throw the pokeball, "Ok Riolu get ready." Izaiah said as he got the pokeball ready. "GO POKEBALL!" Izaiah shouted as he threw it. "Ruff," Riolu said as he made contact with the pokeball turning him into the same red energy as Pidgey did when they got sucked into the ball, and then as it closed it started to wiggle once...then twice...then three times...then *click* Izaiah caught Riolu. "Alright, I caught my first pokemon, Riolu!" Izaiah said with joy as he went to pick up the pokeball, "Well looks like Riolu wanted to join us after all. Great job Izaiah." Paul said to him as he got some potions out of his bag, "Thanks, Paul. Now time for Riolu's first moments of being a part of the team." Izaiah said as he let Riolu out of his pokeball. "Ruff," Riolu said with joy as he jumped up to Izaiah's arms for a hug, tumbling him to the ground, "Hahaha welcome to the team Riolu," Izaiah said as Litten purred into Izaiah's arms to be petted, rubbing his head against Izaiah's one free hand. "Don't think I forgot about you, Litten." Izaiah said while petting Litten and hugging Riolu with a smile on his face, "Ok guys that's enough, time to get ready for the trip." Izaiah said as he got up and sprayed a potion on Riolu healing him right up.

"I guess it's time to head for Trower Town gym then," Paul said as Izaiah returned Riolu to his pokeball. "It seems like it is. In that case, what are we still doing here let get going." Izaiah said to Paul with excitement as he started walking on the route's pathway. "Ok then to Trower Town, we go," Paul said following behind Izaiah.

But as they left the area little to their knowledge someone or something was watching them in the woods. Will they make it to Trower Town? Will they encounter more pokemon or new friends on the way? We will only know in the next chapter.
