"So, how have you been, cookie? Up to no good I assume?" Donna asked skeptically whilst settling down on the large couch opposite to me. Cass and I sat in two lavish, white plush chairs, separated by a small table with a mystical blue vase. In front of us was an antique wooden coffee table, decorated with all sorts of expensive yet stylish ornaments and a large white couch which matched our seats. Donna informed us that this was one of the many small, casual nooks they had in their mansion. And let me tell you, this room was anything but small. Glancing up, I took in the luxurious chandelier which loomed over us as Donna placed two cups of coffee in front of us.
"Actually, I'm in college trying to get my Bachelor's in Biology, and them I'm planning to go to Medical School to become a cardiologist," I explained as I blew on the piping hot coffee. Taking a cautious sip, I relish the warm liquid as it makes its way down my esophagus.
"My little cookie is becoming a doctor!" Donna claps excitedly, "Oh of course you would! You've turned out to be such an incredible young woman, cookie! I'm so proud of you," she says sincerely. My icy heart warms up with happiness as I smile at her. After everything I've been through Donna has always been there for me, and after all this time, we've finally reunited.
"And this is my best friend, Cassidy. We attend the same college and let me warn you, she's got the IQ of Einstein," I praised as Cass releases a chuckle when she takes in Donna's impressed look.
"I'm currently in the Computer Science program," Cass elaborates with a relieved grin. I can tell she's much more relaxed now that she warming up to Donna.
"Ah, so that's how you both hacked into the database and stole from my family," Donna smirked. Suddenly, Cass and I were very interested in the cups resting in our hands.
"I'm really, really sorry Donna-," I start but stop when she holds her hand up.
"Giada," she states.
"What?" I raise a quizzical eyebrow.
"My actual name is Giada. But I'll explain that later," she reassured.
"Right, well again, we're so sorry for the trouble we've cause Do-Giada," I quickly correct myself.
"Yeah, we'll never ever ever do it again," Cass chimes in.
"We had good intentions," I continue, "my father's in the hospital and I couldn't pay the bills and so St- a classmate of mine offered me this job, and Cass came along because bless her soul, she is so nice, and then it turns out we stole the wrong ship-" I rambled but I quickly glanced up to see Giada's smile.
"You don't have to explain yourself, cookie. You are my daughter, it happens, and I forgive you," she counters and I breathe a sigh of relief. "Now come along, you two will stay here for the night. We'll figure out what to do with you in the morning."
"Thank you so much Giada," Cass and I exhale as we follow her out of the room and into the large marble hallway we entered from. I'm surprised by the fact that I'm still unbothered by the fact that Donna/Giada is in a Mafia family. And that I'm in a Mafia house, about to fight for my life to be part of the Mafia. I think it's the shock, which hopefully won't wear off. We made it to the front of the house, where Giada led us up a set of large marble staircases.
"Cassidy, your room will be two doors down to your left. Chanel, your room will be six doors down on the right. Please feel free to settle in, shower, and meet me downstairs for dinner. I'll get you gals some clothes in the meantime," Giada spoke and I gave her a quick hug when she made her exit.
"Ugh, our rooms are on opposite hallways," Cass frowned.
"It's ok! We'll just meet up at dinner," I assure and start to make my way down my assigned hall. My worn out sneakers make soft noises as I walk down the white marble corridor. I count the number of door and stand in front of the one Giada gave to me. Placing my hand on the gold knob, I turn it to reveal the most opulent room I have ever seen. The bedroom was humungous with all white furnishing and hints of brown and gold scattered throughout decorations. I marveled over the king size bed, one that I had only when I was just a small child. Large windows showcase the magnificent view on the wall before me while book cases take up space to the left of me. I continue to venture forth into the room and cross the bed which faces the middle window. Beside it is a small wooden desk and a door. Cautiously, I open to discover a huge, but empty, closet. With not much else to see, I spot another large door facing the wall covered in book cases. Assuming its the bathroom, I peer inside and find that I am in fact correct. I can't help but gasp at the vast space before me. The bathroom is adorned with luxurious gold decor, and it's so big, it even has a seating area. My eyes scan the room and I take in the giant bathtub and shower.
Without hesitation, I strip my clothes and step inside the enormous glass shower. I quickly turn the shower handle and soon, hot water is pouring all over my body. The water warms up every pore on me, making me relax under the heat. I sigh in ecstasy as I bathe in absolute luxury. Closing my eyes, I lather myself in the expensive soap that was set out for me. I heard the faint noise of the bathroom door open. Whilst still closing my eyes, I hummed, "Giada?"
I hear no response, so I just shrug and go back to massaging shampoo into my hair, only to be met by the all-too-familiar feeling of a cold barrel pressed against my neck.
