Chapter 2 four years later:

*Alex’s POV*

‘Where the ‘ell did Bardroy go’ I take the flamethrower and use it on the meat, then accidentally drop lit dynamite in the soup. The whole kitchen explodes. The moment the kitchen explodes Sebastian runs in.

“Bardroy I told you not to use the dyn-” he looks at me.

“Alex? What are you doing in here? I thought I told you to go help Mey-Rin.”

“Well the bloody idiot Bardroy left to go do somethin’ so i thought that I could cook dinner” I respond with a sigh. He follows my lead, sighing as well.

“Do you have any idea of where he went?” I shake my head as I take my goggles off.

“Alex I would like you to clean up this mess before our guests get here,” he says as an order. I glare at him.

“ ‘ow about you clean it up, and we go from there?” His eye twitches “Pardon me, but what did you just say?” he asks in false kindness, obviously giving me a chance to take it back. I raise an eyebrow.

“You ‘eard me, I told you to clean this mess up.” Bardroy walks in, lit cigarette in his mouth.

*Bardroys POV*

I walk in and notice that Alex is arguing with Sebastian. I sigh and turn to her.

“Attention!” She quickly shuts up and turns towards me. Her arms are at her sides and back straight.

“There will be no more figh’ing with Sebastian. Is that understood?!”

“yes sir!” She responds. I nod.

“Salute!” I order, to which she salutes. I chuckle lightly, enjoying the sight of her taking my orders.

“At ease soldier.” She lets out a sigh of relief before coming to a realization.

“Wait, when did I ever start listenin’ to you?” she asks in frustrated confusion.

“Since I go’ promoted a rank above ya,” I answer with a smirk. She rolls her eyes, slightly annoyed.

“It’s no’ that big of a deal. Besides, I dese’ved to get promoted more than you did,” she argues.

“No you didn’,” I counter.

“Yes I did.”

“No you didn’.”

“Yes, I did,” she insists stubbornly.

“No you didn’, and that’s final,” I finish. She sighs and gives me a lazy salute.

“Yes sir.”

“What was that soldier? I can’t ‘ear you!” I command loudly.

“Yes sir!” She repeats louder, her posture straighter. I smirk, crossing my arms and looking around. I turn to Sebastian.

“What she do this time?” I ask. Other than exploding the kitchen, there isn’t much clue as to what happened. He gives Alex a hard look, obviously not pleased.

“That’s what I would like to know,” he responds in a low voice. We both turn to her expectantly. She switches her gaze between us, confused.

“What?” she asks in extreme confusion. Most likely forgetting about the mess around her. Sebastian rubs his temple, a little fed up with her. I sigh and motion to what was the kitchen.

“What ‘appened in ‘ere?” I try again. She looks at me finally realizing what we were talking about.

“Oh, well I though’ that dinner was gonna take too long to cook. So I used Bardroy’s flamethrower and a stick of dynami’e. When the dynami’e exploded, this ‘appened,” she explains with a shrug, acting as if it happens all the time. Which sadly, it does. Sebastian starts towards the door, giving us one last hard look.

“Have her clean this mess up immediately, we have important guests this evening,” He orders calmly. I nod and he leaves. Alex turns to leave the kitchen, but I grab the back of her shirt.

“And w’ere do ya think you a’e goin?” I ask sternly.

“Back to my room obviously,” she responds with a cheeky smile. I shake my head, pulling her back.

“No’ until you get this mess cleaned up. You ‘eard Sebastian, we ‘ave important guests comin’,” I remind her.

“Why should I care abou’ the stupid guests?” she questions with a stubborn pout. I roll my eyes before closing them, a little annoyed.

“Because if they don’ get the full Phantom’ive ‘ospitality, we’ll all be in trouble. Also, withou’ our guests, we’d all be ou’ of the job,” I say in irritation. How she manages to get on my nerves like this, I haven’t the slightest idea, but, she’s an old friend. She crosses her arms, pouting and letting me hold her up by her shirt. She seems to be thinking before she replies.

“I honestly couldn’ care about the guests.” She shrugs and I let go of her shirt, letting her fall on her butt. Crossing my arms in thought, I sigh for what feels like the thousandth time. I open my eyes again and give her a stern look. Guess I have to do it again.

“Ten ‘ut!” I call with a powerful voice. Her eyes widen slightly and she scrambles to her feet. She stands up straight and puts her arms by her side once again.

“You a’e to clean this room until it is spotless, is tha’ clear?!” I yell in command.

“Yes sir!” she calls back. I step closer, only a foot away from her.

“Wha’ are your orders?!”

“To clean this room until it is spotless!”

“Until it is wha’ soldier?! I can’t ‘ear you!” I demand.

“Until it’s spotless, sir!” she shouts. I step back with a smirk and mimic her posture.

“Salute!” She raises one hand, giving me a salute, to which I salute back. “Now, get to work!”

She nods and starts cleaning with a determined look in her eyes. I lean against the door frame and watch, thoroughly entertained. She cleans about half the kitchen before pausing. I can almost see the gears turning and i smirk, prepared for the worst.

*Alex’s POV*

After a while I finally finished cleaning and flop down onto the floor in exhaustion. Bardroy walks over and inspects the counter and floor, running his finger across the surface and inspecting it. He turns to me with a smirk, crossing his arms.

“Nice job, at ease soldier,” He dismisses with a salute. I sigh and lazily salute back then leave the kitchen. I go back to my room and lay down on my bed, deciding to take a small nap. I stuff my face into the pillow, blocking the light as I pass out from exhaustion. I wake up some time later to a light knocking, but choose to ignore it. They try again, but I just put the pillow over my head.

*Bardroy’s POV*

I sigh and try knocking one more time. Why won’t she answer? I notice the door isn’t locked and roll my eyes. Stupid. Turning the handle, I step in.

“Oi, Alex, the guests will-” I freeze when I notice her. She has a pillow over her head, blanket at her feet. Must have passed out from all that cleaning. I sigh, maybe I shouldn’t have been so harsh. Deciding she might get cold, I quietly walk over and pull the blanket up over her. I guess she doesn’t need to wake up, I’ll just take on her half. I walk back to the door and look back at her, smiling slightly.

“Sleep well, soldier.”
