A familiar light

It was silent.

"What?!"

"Yes, mom. I have to go back to Olympus, or else, New York would blow up." I try to explain.

"I understand that, but, will you be in any danger?"

"Like before? No, but I'd still be in danger but not life threatening." I say.

"You promise that?" She says, grabbing my hands.

"Yes."

"Then I'll let you."

"Thanks mom!" I hug her in joy.

"You can do this, Percy." I say, pep-talking to myself before walking in to the Empire State building.

"ID please," the security guard said.

"Hey, Tom, it's me," I said.

"Oh, you're here. Welcome back." He said, handing the card and smiling at me.

As I go in the elevator, I brush off some dust in my shoulders and put my hands in my pocket as I fiddle with Riptide.

Ding!

I'm finally here. I can see Gods around me, though it's a bit less than before.

"Percy?" I hear someone ask.

"I'm not Percy, is there a problem?" I answer, fixing my eyeglasses.

"No, no. I thought it was him, you both look pretty simiral. I gues this guy looks pretty different." The last part was a murmur.

"Jack Peterson, I'm from the MPDA, pleasure to meet you." I say as I refrain from telling her who I am.

"Annabeth Chase, architect." A jolt of pain hit me as I see a golden band on her ring finger.

"I see, can you direct me to the throne room? I need to speak with Lord Poseidon." I ask her.

"He's at the camp right now, I can take you to him."

"Thank you."

After that awkward pegasus chariot ride, I finally arrive at Camp Half Blood, where my good memories reside.

"Lord Poseidon, this man wishes to speak with you." Annabeth says, a slight bow of her head directed to dad.

"I'm Jack Peterson from the MPDA, I have something to discuss with you in private." I said, offering my hand. I flinch as I saw a flash of recognition cross his eyes.

"Yes, follow me. I'll talk to you later, Ann." He said, Annabeth nodding in response.

We kept walking until we reached a secluded part of the beach.

"What is it you want to tell me?"

"The minor gods want to overthrow Zeus from his throne." I said, taking off my glasses to reveal my face. Call it cliche but it's an awesome disguise.

"Percy?!" He hugged me.

"It's been 3 years! Where have you been?" He asked, holding me at an arms distance.

"You know how I wished that I didn't smell like a Demigod anymore?"

"Yes."

"I moved to Paul's apartment with mom and Estelle. Then I continued high school, then went to community college. Then I heard from a guy that Olympus would break out into a Civil war if no one stopped it. So he sent me to make the gods take a vote on who they wanted to be king of Olympus." I explained.

"Oh okay, I understand. I'm sorry I couldn't stop it all, Percy."

"It's okay, dad. I even got a cool suit for it." I laughed.

"But anyway, now that you know the situation, mind calling the Olympians for a meeting?" I asked.

"But... I stay as Jack Peterson." I continued, wanting to keep my identity hidden.

"Percy, I'd hate to be the one to break it to you, but, Annabeth's engaged, she was depressed for about a year then went to New Jersey to unwind and foud a demigod there."  He said, voice cracking nervously.

"I'm okay with it, plus, I wouldn't want it if she stayed depressed like that for three years." I smiled through the heartburn.

I put on my glasses and looked at him. Asking him to take me around camp.

"You're a wonderful person, son. Now let's go to the campfire, dinner's almost ready." He said, guiding me through the new buildings in camp.

"Lord Poseidon, may I ask who this young lad is?" Chiron asked, trotting to our direction.

"Jack Peterson, sir, so glad to meet you." I said, raising my hand.

"I'm Chiron, do you have a godly parent?" He asked, shaking my hand.

"Yes, I do, but for personal reasons, I'd rather not say. I'm here for business with Lord Poseidon." I replied.

"Very well, then, Lord Poseidon, Mr. Peterson, please take a seat, dinner will begin in a few minutes." He offered, gesturing to the head table.

"Thanks Chiron." Dad smiled as Chiron walked away with a bow.

•••

The conch horn sounded and the pavilion began filling up. Then the kids started to walk to the campfire to offer food for the gods.

"Should I still do that?" I asked dad.

"No need." He smiled.

I returned eating when something caught my eye. It seems that some people started to leave early. Capture the flag must be today. Huh. Nice timing.

•••

"Will you stay for dessert, Mr. Peterson?" Chiron asked.

"If it's not too much of a hassle." I smiled at him.

"Then let's proceed to the forest platform," He said.

"It's a fairly new building here that overlooks our Capture the flag games. On the right you'll be able to see Annabeth's team, then on that side, will be Leo's team. For either of the teams to win, they have to get the opponent's flag across the creek." Chiron explained.

"Oh, I see, it seems fun." I said, wanting to play too.
