The 70th Hunger Games

CHAPTER 1

I was in district 12, in my home. I live with my two younger sisters, Prim who is 8 years old, Katniss who is 12 years old, and my mother. It is the day of the reaping, I will be in the reaping and so will one of my younger sisters, Katniss. She's scared but trying to be brave, but my youngest sister Prim, really doesn't understand, shes not old enough to enter, so she stands back and watch's with mother. I lay in my bed and think about all the bad things that could happen today, but then Katniss walks in. She looked so scared, I jumped up out of my bed and hugged her and said "Katniss, everything's gonna be okay" she started to sob and said "but what if" I stopped her there and said "no, there's no but what ifs" she closes her eyes and I said "hey, don't worry, nothings going to change" I rubbed her face and she opened her eyes and said "you promise" I said "yes, Katniss, I promise" I hugged her knowing that what I promised her could change. I told her to go get washed up so I could do her hair. I looked out my window in fear, seeing all of the peace keepers and quickly put on my clothes. I always liked to go to the woods just on the outside of district 12, I even sometimes took Katniss out there, but not much I only maybe took her once or twice, but she loves it. I had a really good guy friend named Cyrus we would always meet in the woods about once or twice a week, but I would go out there all the time with or without him. We planed to meet out there today since it was the day of the reaping. I yelled to Katniss and told her I would be back soon, she already knew were I was going so there was no need to explain. I went out the door and ran into the woods and to find Cyrus sitting on a tree stump. I went up to him and said "hey Cyrus, I wasn't sure if you would come" he said "you know I would always come for you" I smiled and sat down next to him and said "what would you do if your named got called" he said "well, I'd probably go up there" we both laughed and I said "no, really, if they called your name would you..." He said "Autumn, we, we just need to stay positive" I said "how would you" he looked at me and signed. I was looking at his dark brown hair when he looked up and I looked into his his brown perfect eyes and said "its time Cyrus, I have to go get ready" he signed again and said "I know me to" he hugged me and I hugged him back and we went back to our houses in district 12.
