The 70th Hunger Games

CHAPTER 2

When we got back to District 12 Cyrus walked me back to my house. We walked up to the porch and he touched my check and I grabbed his hand and I said "okay I guess I'll see you later" he could tell in my voice I was so scared he said "Autumn, just..." And then Katniss opened the door with a beautiful brown dress on I hugged her and looked at Cyrus and said "I'll see you at the reaping" and we hugged and he left. Me and Katniss went inside and I seen mother standing there, she didn't say anything and neither did I. I took Katniss into the bathroom and grabbed a brush and started brushing her hair. Her hair was dark brown almost black, it was long and beautiful. I would always braid her hair on the side. I started to braid her hair and she said in a sad tone "Autumn, can you take me in the woods when we get back" I continued to braid her hair and said in a hushed tone "of course, if you won't" I got to the end of her hair and tied it up. After I was done she turned around and gave me a hug and I got down on my knees and said "I have to go get washed up, but I'll be out soon" she hugged me even harder and left. I walked into my room and was rumbling through my closest. I had few dresses, they were only for the reapings. I saw one that look quite like Katniss's dress and I pulled it out, I didn't like dresses at all but for the reaping I had to look my best. I put the dress on and went into the bathroom and did my hair as well. I did it in a braid in the back. I went into the living room and Katniss was sitting in the one chair we had and she stood up and hugged me. I got down and said "Katniss, look, look at me, you have to be brave" she said "but what if..." I stopped her there and said "remember what I said about but what if's" I stood back up and we heard the bell ring. She looked at me and I hugged her and said "okay Katniss let's go" we went out the door and there where people everywhere. We worked our way around the crowd and got in line. Me and Katniss got in the same line but a peace keeper came and told her to get in the younger kids line. She looked at me and I said "go Katniss you'll be okay" the peace keeper took her over somewhere in another line but I could see her. They pricked my finger and took some blood and me and Katniss saw each other but I told her to go up with the smaller kids, so she did.
