When October ends

Chapter 8

As opposite of what I was afraid of,the party goes on like before. We keep having a lot of fun for another hour and I totally loose track of time. I tried stayong away when people were fiving me drinks, but other than that, I had the best night of my life. Then arrives the moment when you hear the first notes of a song and a girl's eyes widen. This girl happened to be Emily. She started dancing and dragged me by the sleeve to make me dance with her. As the song is over, Emily kisses me and walks towards the guys. I look at my watch. It's 9: 20. My parents are already home. When I turn around to look for Emily, she isn't at the place she was a gew seconds ago. She is leaning her back against the wall, staring attentively at something in the middle of the room. The next moments were just a big blur in time.

I look in the middle of the room, searching for what might be drawing Emily's attention. Exactly as I do so, an almost deafening sound pops into the room, followed by a large halo of dense white smoke rising up exactly where Emily was looking. Some people are screaming, some didn't even notice yet. I look back at where Emily was only to realize that she had disappeared. I get closer to the center while most of the people are getting away from it. I get pushed and fall on my back. As I stand back, I feel my arm being grabbed and myself being pulled. I turn around. It's Emily. She's bringing me outside with the others. I notice Romulus and the other way farther in front. That's when my mind gets out of the shocked state it was in. Bomb. That's why there was a burnt smell in the room. I hear sirens coming from far.

- Come on, says Emily. We better get away from here.

She literally drags me back to the woodland I went through coming here. She only stops running when we get there.

- What is happening to you? I ask her.

- Bomb traumatism, she says. I'm afraid of them. That's why I had to get as far as I could from them.

I nod along and keep walking. The idea of Emily fearing something had actually never crossed my mind. She's so flawless, so...
Careful, Liam. She's using you.

These words popped into my head. I try chasing them away. Romulus could not be right about this. Emily likes me. I am sure of that. But...what if she..?

- Are you listenning to me Liam?she says.

I suddenly realize she was talking to me.

- Um...would you be mad if I said no?I ask.

She giggles.

- You're adorable,she says.

I smile.

- I know, I say.

She tells me about how she got traumatized by a movie wich contained bombs when she was young and that's why she is so afraid of them. I turn around and notice the blue and red lights that symbolize the cops. Then, something really hard to explain happens. I see back Emily doing nothing but staring at the middle of the room. And the bomb exploding right where she was looking. Then, her staying completely calm. She said she was scared of bombs. Why did she stay calm?

- Woah woah woah!I say as I grab her arm. Were you involved in the bomb?

She jerks her arm off my hand.

- Woah woah woah yourself!she says. No, I wasn't involved, I just happened to know about it.

- Then why you didn't you do anything about it?I ask her, almost screaming.

- Relax, it was just a smoke bomb, she says. Plus I didn't even think he was serious.

- Who is he anyway?I ask.

-  The guy who was smoking in the parking she says.

- You said he wasn't even going to be let in!I say in a ragey voice.

- That's what I thought and that's why I didn't think he was serious,she says. Would you believe a high person who told you he was going to release a smoke bomb?

I sigh.

- Right. I'm sorry,I say.

- It's fine, she says.

I am so scared because I feel like I could loose her by anything I do. It's even a miracle someone as amazing as her could be with someone like me. I follow her up to the end of the woodland and get to my car.
