Chapter 6 

You wake up feeling groggy. The time reads 5:32 am. "What the hell happened" you think to yourself. There's an IV coming out of your arm, and you're laying in a hospital bed in the lab. "Jarvis, what happened?". "It appears the mix of the methadone Dr. Banner gave you and the Xanax you took caused you to almost overdose. Luckily Dr. Cho was in the building" Jarvis says.

- 8 am -

"OH MY GOD Y/N WHAT HAPPENED?" Bucky yells bursting through the door. "I'm fine Bucky" you say. "Dr. Cho said I only have to stay in this stupid bed for 4 days". Bucky sighs and kisses you on the forehead. "What did you do Doll?" he says. "I mixed my medication. I didn't know you weren't supposed to mix them" you say. "Mixed them? I thought you only had 1" he says. You look at him disappointed in yourself. You know you shouldn't have that bottle of Xanax, but you just get so nervous and it helps you. "Well I took a Xanax to calm my nerves" you say ashamed. You knew you had a small addiction, but you wouldn't let it grow. You just had PTSD, and that was a quick and easy way to forget about it for a little bit. "Xanax? Seriously y/n? Do you know how dangerous that is?" Barnes says. "Don't baby me James! I know what I'm doing" you say irritated. "I know, I'm sorry. You just scared me". Bucky climbs next to you in the luxuriously large hospital bed and you both fall asleep next to each other.

You wake up to the sound of Jarvis telling you the team just arrived at the tower in the Quinjet. "Buck. Wake up. The team is back" you say. "Huh?" he says, barely awake. "Come on buck. Can you hand me my makeup bag? It's on the counter. I don't want the team seeing me like this" you say. You look like shit and you don't want the team to see you like that.

Wanda walks in right as you're done putting on some makeup. "So I left you on the hospital and I come back to you in the hospital" she jokes. "Yea. Dr. Cho said I would be fine in like 4 days". Wanda and you sit in silence for a moment. "What's wrong Y/N? I can sense that somethings wrong" she says. "Nothings wrong" you lie. "Just wish I wasn't sitting in this hospital bed". Something was wrong though. You felt as if you had to tell Natasha how you feel about her, But you also didn't want to tell her because you weren't 100% sure how you felt. "Ok. Well, I'm going to go shower and unpack my things. I'll come to check on you in a few hours" Wanda says.

Later in the afternoon, Nat finally comes to the lab to visit you. "Hey Nat. What? You're too busy to come visit me when you got back?" you joke. "I would've, but I didn't come back with the team. I went to visit Shuri in Wakanda first" Nat replies. "How are you doing? Have you had any more nightmares?". "I'm fine, and no I haven't had any nightmares since you left" you say. "Good" Nat says. "Are you hungry? I'm going to go make you some dinner". And with that, you were alone in the cold fluorescent-lit room.

Nat came back in about 15 minutes later. She made you both a griddled cheese sandwich. You scooted over in the bed to make room for her. "Thanks. I haven't eaten all-day" you say. "Your welcome. Let's watch something. Got any suggestions?" says Nat. "Um.. how about Clueless"? "Sure".

After your done eating, you set your plates at the bedside, and get comfortable. "Can you sleep in here please?" you ask Nat. "I really don't want to be alone again". Small tears formed in your eyes, thinking of multiple emotions. The fact that you almost overdosed. The fact that you yourself didn't know how you felt. The list could go on and on, but all you knew was that you couldn't handle being alone tonight. "Of course" she says.

You shut off the tv, tell Jarvis to turn off the lights, and cuddle into Natashas arms.

Nat and you stay up for a while talking and laughing. This made you feel better, and forget about your worries. "It's getting late. We should go to sleep" Nat says, but you don't want to. Sleep is supposed to make you forget, but for you, sleep is never peaceful. You feel like you sink into death and despair. But in this moment, talking with Nat, this is the only time you can forget, and just be happy for once. You don't want to tell Nat all that, so you just decide to agree.

Looking up at her, you briefly study her beautiful features. Her strong cheekbones. Her big greenish-blueish eyes. Her warm red hair. And then down at her soft lips. Without thinking about it, you kiss her.
