Noelle's P.O.V
I offered to give Piper and Romeo a ride on the first day of school but they said they preferred taking their bikes when the weather was nice, so I left for school on my own.
I felt especially nervous last night about the first day of University, so I only had two hours of sleep. I spent at least half an hour talking to my mom about it on the phone. She was really good when it came to advice on things that made me anxious.
We cleared the air the other day, but my dad was still not speaking to me.
I wasn’t an unfriendly person, I was just anxious a lot and nervous that the worst would happen. So often times in high school I would find ways to get out of doing things that involved a lot of socializing.
But once the ice is broken, I’d like to say I’m a fun person to be around, and not shy at all.
I was happy to find out that I had a class, Creative writing, with Piper on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. I had Calculus and Geography B with Romeo on Mondays and Tuesdays. Lucky me I got Wednesdays and the weekend off. The only class I didn’t have any of them in was History of Art 2, which I had tomorrow so I still had another day to relax before freaking out and being nervous.
I scampered off into the bathroom at the school as I waited for Romeo and Piper to meet me in the quad. I stared at my reflection in the mirror as I tried to take deep breaths and calm down.
I didn’t want to seem like one of those overly flashy girls that looked like they were going clubbing instead of going to school, so I kept it simple.
I wore some white shorts and a green Hollister pullover with flip-flops. The only makeup I put on was concealer for my eyes, and some mascara and lip-gloss.
I mean, I didn’t want to seem like I wasn’t trying at all.
The only thing I really put some effort in was my hair, which was long, dark brown, and braided into a fishtail.
“Uh, sorry, but a guy out there is looking for you.” A girl that was in here about a minute ago told me sweetly and I thanked her before going outside to find Romeo leaning against a wall.
“Hey.” I told him, letting out a deep breath.
“Don’t be so nervous.” He chuckled and I shrugged.
“Where’s Piper?”
“I already dropped her off at her class. Speaking of which we should go to ours now.”
I frowned but followed him anyways. When we got there, I was happy to see there were only a few people inside. I hated the feeling of walking into a place and having everyone look at you.
Romeo got us textbooks and packets while I chose seats in the center of the second row.
Class went by fast, and wasn’t so bad. The teacher just got right into note taking, and didn’t bother with making us introduce ourselves like we had to do in high school.
When Romeo and I got back to the quad Piper was sitting with the same girl I had met in the bathroom and some cute guy beside her.
“Noelle, Romeo, this is Kendall and Finn.” Piper introduced us properly and I smiled at them.
“Nice to meet you.”
“Same, nice to meet you.” Finn spoke up, holding his girlfriend’s hand. He had a British accent that was to die for.
It wasn’t a surprise to me that they were a couple. Kendall was drop dead gorgeous. She had golden skin, long wavy black hair that faded to dip dyed pink tips, shocking blue eyes, and was a good inch or two taller than me.
