Red wolf's pov

I woke feeling like a truck just crushed my side. My hand travels to the pain, grazing over a wound. Yesterdays events flood my memory. Looking over to my right, I'm surprised to see the human girl sleeping next to me. She is one crazy chick. You rarely ever hear of a female human helping a wild animal, let alone fight off an attacker like an aggressive pit bull. I grin remembering her fists slamming into that piece of trash. Her fighting style seems so familiar.

My side throbs demandingly. I should of just left her to it. She was handling herself quiet well. I never interfere with human affairs. I have enough problems of my own. My hand rubs over my face exasperated. There was something about her that drew me in. My gaze wanders over to her. It's a shame we aren't mates. Now she is some one I'd enjoy riling up everyday. It may be juvenile, but hey, it's part of who I am.

The girl stirs for a minute, but remains deep in sleep. I take a closer look. Her skin is pale and flushed. Her lips blue as if she's been eating blueberries for three days and she's shaking like a leaf in the wind. My hand touches her forehead. It's as hot as a stove burner on high. I don't know much about humans, but I do know that they're fragile. They can't heal like us. Not unless they are fully mated with my kind. I need to take her where humans are welcome and she'd be looked after.

Liam pops into my head. My wolfs fur stands on end, he doesn't like that idea. This is Liam's land and he's responsible for every thing in it. If there's one thing I remember about him, it's that he takes responsibility very seriously. She seems bright enough to stay on his good side, I hope. I'd hate to find out he'd snapped her neck for annoying him. I shutter at old memories involving Liam.

I gently pick her up, despite my pain. The wound is already half healed, thanks to her. I cuddle her as close to my bare body as possible, so she could gain some kind of warmth. Adjusting her weight, I quickly make our way towards Liam's house. Now my only problem is how to leave her there with out anyone ever discovering I was here. I can't risk anyone finding out who I am yet.

2 hours later

I swear I'm going to die if his house is any farther. My body warms up a fraction and a shiver runs down my spine, telling me that one of my people are close by. Thank the heavens! I reach out to them with my mind. Today is my lucky day, it's my second in command. He's probably been searching for me since I never made it back to the base. I command him to meet me here. Not more than fifteen minutes, he arrives.

"I have been looking for you everywhere sir. We were afraid the enemy might of captured you." He salutes. My eyebrow lifts distainfully.

"It would be a cold day in hell before Canis could get his weak paws on me commander Dales." I lay the woman down on the ground. Her eyes flutter open for a moment and places her fingertips on my cheek.

"Liam, I'm sorry I got mad at you. I'm just confused about everything." She whispers in delirium. Her eyes shut as her hand drops to her chest like a lead weight. My breath is caught in my throat. The commander clears his.

"I believe she is the one everybody in this territory has been looking for sir. Please close your mouth sir." I snap my trap shut, than take in her sent. I assumed the lemon grass was from the woods and the musk from the fighting. The fighting! I should of known she was Liam's! I would be stupid not to take advantage of this situation. "Sir?"
I stand up grinning.

"Commander Dales, make sure you get her to the base with no one finding out. Mask her sent with the B27 solution so she won't lead anyone to our hide out. Than call for Brandy when she is comfortably lain in my tent. We just scored ourselves a once in a lifetime opportunity to turn the tables around." I speed off in the direction commander Dales came from because he is covered with the sent of Liam's backyard. Once I reach a few yards in from the tree line, I 'ahem' marked my presence on a tree. Than made my way back to my base. Tomorrow evening, I can guarantee he'll be standing next to that tree. That is where I hope to gain a private audience with him.
