THE YEAR IS 1933 AND MARA CARNAHAN is happier than she's ever been. The six-month anniversary of her wedding is approaching and she and Jonathan are spending the occasion in London, staying in the O'Connell home at the invitation of Rick and Evy while they're in Egypt at Evy's behest, following her strange dreams unwittingly to the location of the Bracelet of Anubis. And the very same night the O'Connells return with their son is the same night Imhotep, the mummy they were forced to defeat at Hamunaptra years ago, is risen from his grave again. And with him alive, the world is in far more danger than it was when the day began.
THERE IS ONE WEEK before the Scorpion King of legend awakens, and to the cultists who woke Imhotep, he is the only one strong enough to stop him — and whoever kills the Scorpion King gains control of the Army of Anubis and can use it to destroy mankind and rule the earth or send it back to the Underworld, and Imhotep's choice is already clear. As if that was not dire enough, Mara's godson Alex, who wears the Bracelet of Anubis on his wrist, is abducted to lead Imhotep to the lost Oasis of Ahm-Shere by way of the bracelet's guidance.
FROM KARNAK TO ABU SIMBEL TO AHM-SHERE, a desperate race to rescue Alex before it's too late for him and the world begins. The O'Connells and the Carnahans, with help from Mara's father Jamil and Jamil's old friend Ardeth, embark on a dangerous journey across the desert. Evy's visions become far more worrying, and meanwhile Mara tries to keep secret something that will change her life forever. There are only seven days before the Scorpion King awakens, seven days to find Alex and stop the Army of Anubis. Seven days for their world to change.

( hello!!! hope everyone enjoyed act two because act three, aka the mummy returns, is gonna be REALLY fun imo! five year time jump from where the last chapter left off, and a LOT happened in those five years as u can probably tell from the above summary. seriously, i almost got whiplash rereading the last chapter of act two and the first chapter of act three back-to-back because of how differently mara acts and i'm the one who wrote it so?? anyway, can't promise act three will be posted weekly as the others were, especially considering i'm still trying to figure out exactly where i want to end this story — there is just so much in my head, you guys — but i'm hoping it'll be somewhat regularly once i actually start posting it, which i also...don't know when that will be exactly. will be soon though! )
