Coming up with a plan hadn't been much of a success when half of the members of the household seemed intent on ignoring the other half. After breakfast, Jessica and Tim had sat down with a notebook and pen and had thrown out ideas, scribbling them down and crossing some out as they went. Their plan from before - how long ago had it been now? - had only been a temporary fix, something to keep Alex busy while they thought of a new plan.
"Ya know, Hoodie probably has some idea of what we should do," Jessica finally said after they had crossed off most of the items on their list. Nearly two hours of brainstorming hadn't gotten them much of anywhere and the two were left feeling more frustrated than ever.
"Then let's ask him," Tim acceded, reaching down to grab his crutches as Jessica headed toward the living room, pausing in the entryway. When Tim joined her, he saw Skully curled up on the couch, his knees brought up to his chest and chin resting on them as he (as well as the rest of the house) watched Hoodie frantically run about the room, searching under and behind the pieces of furniture.
"Lose something?" Tim asked, hopping a little as he adjusted his grip on his crutches. Hoodie completely ignored him as he continued to search the room before stomping toward the hallway, throwing open the bedroom and bathroom doors and searching those rooms as well.
"What do you think he's looking for?" Jessica asked as they listened to the sound of objects banging around in the next rooms.
"No idea," Tim replied as the man appeared in the kitchen behind them, throwing open the cabinets and searching through every place he could think of before he froze in place.
"Think he found it?" Jessica quietly asked Tim before the man bolted back down the hall, into the living room, and then out the front door. The knob of the door slammed into the wall, shaking the whole door as the man disappeared out into the rain.
"What was that about?" Jessica asked, crossing the space behind one of the couches to close the door.
"I don't know," Tim replied. "Maybe he heard that we were going to try to talk to him."
"Haha," Jessica replied, rolling her eyes. "Now what?"
"I guess we'll just have to wait for him to-"
The door burst open, Hoodie entering the house with something large and round tucked up under his hoodie, one of his arms supporting the object from below.
"Okay, what the heck is that?" Jessica warily asked as the man closed the door behind him. He had only been outside for a matter of seconds but he was already dripping wet, the light fabric of his hoodie turned a darker shade with all the moisture soaked into it.
"I'm gonna guess he found what he was looking for," Tim replied though they both fell silent when the thing beneath Hoodie's shirt began to move, twisting and turning before edging its way upward and finally popping its head out below Hoodie's. Caramel eyes glanced from Jessica up to Hoodie before Adam slid back down beneath the fabric.
"He was looking for the cat?" Tim asked as Hoodie took a seat on the end of the closest couch, crossing his legs and peering below his collar to see the animal beneath his shirt.
With a little shake of her head, Jessica took a seat on the only available couch, Tim taking a seat beside her as the two watched as Skully tilted his head to the side, abandoning the couch he was sitting on to approach Hoodie. It was obvious that he was intrigued by whatever was beneath the man's hoodie as he took a seat beside him, tucking his legs beneath himself like Hoodie. Tentatively reaching a hand out, Skully poked the large lump, snatching his hand away when it began to move again.
Grabbing the hem of his hoodie, the cryptic pulled the fabric up, revealing the large black cat that slid down into his lap, resting there as Hoodie began to pet it.
