after poofing out of the kitchen, alex and i landed back in the studio.

"where did reggie go?" i ask, flopping down on to the couch.

"why do you care?" alex smirks and takes a seat next to me.

"i'm just curious." i defends, and he continues to smirk and raises an eyebrow at me. "as a friend."

"sure." he nods. i roll my eyes and elbow him lightly. "seriously though," his smile drops. "is that, i mean you and him, like a thing?"

"i don't know what it is." i shrug. "we haven't really talked about it."

"well what have you talked about?" he asks.

"basically he just said he wished something could happen between us. and i told him that a song i wrote was about him." i explain.

"i knew that song was about him!" alex smirks again.

"wait what?" my eyes widen at him.

"well, when i read it i had a hunch it was about him. that's why i left it open for him." alex explains.

"you what?" i snap and hit him in the arm. he only smirks again.

"you only write when you're really feeling something." he points out. i glance away and nod.

"i had the start of the song and he finished it." i say softly and grab my book off the table to show alex.

"this is really good." he comments as i stand up to head over to our pile of clothes. i grab my flannel and throw it around myself, before picking up a black beanie and heading back towards alex.

"thanks." i mumble, sitting back down on the chair.

"does luke know?" alex asks quietly, despite no one else being around.

"no, and he never has to." i say. "none of this will matter in a few days anyways." alex sighs and nods slightly.

we sit in silence for a while as alex spins his drumsticks in silence until luke walked through the doors into the studio. i instantly rose to my feet when i noticed he was crying.

"are you okay?" i walk over to him and grab his hand.

"yeah," he nods quickly. "uh, can i talk to you for a minute?" he asks seriously, and i nod and follow him out of the studio.

"luke, you're scaring me." i tell him, stopping my tracks, making him stop as well since i didn't let go of his hand. "what's going on?" he turns around to face me and drops my hand. he wipes his eyes quickly and takes a deep breath.

"i was just at mom and dads," he starts. "and julie gave them the song." i stare at him silently, somewhat in shock. "it, uh, it was hard." he glances around, avoiding my eyes. i can't tell he wants to say more, he just can't find the words right now. "but they're okay." he assures me, grabbing my hand again. "its okay now."

"i feel like we're leaving them all over again." i sigh and he wraps his arms around me, hugging me to his chest. "and they don't even know we're here." my arms are hugged to my chest and luke rubs my back softly.

"i know Tal," he whispers and nods. "it sucks."

"it really sucks." i agree. he steps back from me and rubs his eyes. he takes a moment to attempt to pull himself together.

"julie's going to be back soon, i want to talk to her when she gets here." he explains before turning and stepping away. i reach out and grab his sleeve to stop him.

"luke, you should tell her." i say softly. "she deserves to know." he glances at the ground before looking back up at me and nodding slightly.

"i know." he says quietly, walking up the steps to the gate.
