A Slytherin and a Gryffindor, a snake and a lion, a pureblood and a muggleborn. Cassiopeia Black and Hermione Granger.

The two girls never talked to one another as they were simply too different. They only ever crossed paths in the corridors or whenever Draco Malfoy decided to torment the Golden Trio and she had to break up the fights before they got out of hand. In those moments would Hermione know that despite who her friends are and who her family are is that Cassiopeia Black is much more kind. These are the type of things Hermione would think about Cassiopeia before Harry or Ron would try to tell her otherwise but she refused to believe it. She chose to believe that Cassiopeia is different. 

 But as things take a different turn in their third year rumours start to spread about Cassiopeia as her uncle Sirius Black escapes from Azkaban. People start to avoid the girl and whenever she would walk to her classes there was always stares and whispers. So when she decides she's had enough of it does she run into one of the girls bathroom to let the tears come out. But as she does this, the black haired beauty runs into a bushy haired brunette and their friendship starts to form but both wished for it to be more.

Now after that moment if you were to look closely enough would you be able to see the stares across the great hall, the way whenever they walked past each other and their hands brush together they would go bright red,  the way whenever someone called Hermione a mudblood they would end up with a black eye from Cassiopeia or when if someone started to spread rumours about Cassiopeia would Hermione shut them down completely.

Their friends however, started to pick up on these things and would constantly drop subtle hints about these feelings they had for each other. But the two girls denied and denied as they were both sure that the other girl didn't have any interest in the other. Oh how wrong they were.
