chapter 34

Shannon's P.O.V.

God I can't believe I'm gonna be a married man I'm just a few hours.   This is really happening.   I put on my coat and straighten my bow tie. Closing my eyes I remind myself no one else is here except  for us.  Just us.  I hear a knock at the door and think it who could this be?   I head over and open it up.  It the priest , he's here to remind me I have ten minutes to go. 

She's in her room and getting into her dress fixing her hair,  making sure she looks perfect.   She feels butterflies like I do. Why are we so nervous?   Maybe we know that this is a huge step.  Time passes,  and its finally time.  I head downstairs to the balcony to wait for her. I look out to the view we will have when we both stand her say our vows and become man and wife.  I keep my mind busy by talking to the priest about life.  P" treat her like your best friend more than your wife and you will be happy for the rest of your life ".  Me" why do you say that? ".   P" think about this,  how would you deal with a fight?  Would you leave her and forget about the love you have? No you are in this as partners, as best friends you have known each other for so long.  Don't let anyone or anything come in between you. Cherish the love you have,  make her feel like she's gold and..... ".  The door opened and she walks out,  leaving me breathless.  Her dress is pure white and her bouquet is lavender flowers and wild pink orchids.  I know how much she loves those flowers. 

She smiles at me and I don't know what to say.   Julie " hey you ".   She stands before me and I reach for her hands.  She's shaking and I'm curious why.  Its me,  yet she feels so nervous.  I find it sweet and know once this is over she will love the surprise.  P" are we ready? ".  She looks at me I smile back at her and we both see no one else.  The time comes to say our vows.  I don't need paper,  I speak from my heart. 

Me" You are my best friend my confidant, my lover and my partner . Together we have created a safe haven from the chaos of the outside world, and in you I have found comfort, joy and peace.

When you fall, I will catch you,   when you cry, I will comfort you; when you laugh, I will share your joy. Everything I am, and everything I have is yours, from this moment forth, and for eternity. 

You know me better than anyone else in this world and somehow still you manage to love me. You are my best friend and one true love. There is still a part of me today that cannot believe that I’m the one who gets to marry you. I love you ".

She teared up and tried not to cry but i couldn't help it.  I reached over to wipe her eyes and kissed her cheek.  She blushed and smiles at me.  

Julie's vows:   Shannon, Today I marry the man of my dreams and begin the first day of the rest of my life with you. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. I’ve called you my favorite for a long time and I promise to hold you as number one in my heart. I promise to love you, to be faithful  to you, to be your partner and to always be your friend.  You are not the air that I breathe,you are the sweet scent that drifts upon it

You are not the sounds that I hear,you are the music of my life

You are not the food that I need,

you are the nourishment of my soul

You are not my will to survive,

you are my reason for living

It is with you that I experience

the wonders of the world

It is with you that I triumph

over the challenges in my path

It is your partnership that will lead me

to the fulfillment of my dreams

It is your friendship that guides me

as I grow and learn

It is your patience and wisdom

that calms my restless nature

It is through you that I know my true self

I do not take you for granted,

I cherish you

I do not need you

The priest says the final words we have been waiting to hear. P" and now by the powers invested in me I pronounce you husband and wife,  you may now kiss your bride ".   I smiled she smiles back at me and I pulled her to me cupping her face and kiss her like I never have before.  She's my wife,  I am her husband....we are one.
