*Third person, limited omniscient: Makoto*Makoto woke up that morning with a slight headache, which isn't surprising, considering what he drank last night during their celebration. He groaned in annoyance before quickly brushing his teeth and hair, then heading out of his room to go to breakfast.
When he arrived in the Future Foundation's dining hall, he saw something strange but not totally unusual. Byakuya was at their table, finishing breakfast early. They made eye contact and Byakuya quickly turned his head and walked back to his room.
Did I do something wrong? Makoto thought to himself.
Suddenly, he felt someone approach from behind and he turned around to greet Kyoko. They began a conversation as they joined the buffet line.
(A/N... It was easier to have a buffet, rather than provide ingredients and kitchen space for everyone to make what they please. Though, they do have a community kitchen for in-between-meal cooking, such as making snacks or desserts).
"Hey, Kyoko!"
"Hello, Makoto."
"By the way, I didn't see you yesterday when we were waiting for the infiltration team to get back with the results of our mission. Where did you wander off to, out of curiosity?"
"You and your curiosity, oh well. I went to the library... I guess I just...wanted to take my mind off the situation we're in... you know, the world right now."
"Oh, I can understand that," Makoto said, before quickly changing the subject. "Uh, what do you think they're serving for breakfast today? Any preferences?"
"Not really, though I'm hoping 'Spam' isn't the main dish this time."
"Yeah, you're not alone there."
While they did have a buffet and community kitchen, they didn't have unlimited ingredients for everyone in their branch of the organization. It wasn't unusual that they had to eat poor-quality canned food for a few days while waiting for a new fruit and vegetable shipment from another branch.
Makoto finished his breakfast (which wasn't spam, thank god) as fast as possible, then he went to grab some gardening tools from his room. He unlocked the door and stepped inside, looking for his bag, which he had filled with what he needed the night before.
Once he found it, he quickly made sure he had everything he needed.
"Spade, check. Watering can, that's already at the greenhouse with the fertilizer. Mini-rake, gotcha. Small shears, yep. Seeds, here they are. Alright, I think I'm good."
Makoto quickly threw his bag over his shoulder, left his dorm, and made his way to the community greenhouse. When he arrived, he gazed across the whole room and sped to his section of the garden.
Just past the label "Makoto Naegi," sat plant boxes full of flowers and shrubs that he had painstakingly cultivated from seeds. They were beautiful.
The first thing he did was trim the shrubs surrounding his favorite flowers. He rounded the edges and made them look much neater than they did before. Next, he went to the shed and mixed some fertilizer with water, and filled his watering can. Afterward, he sprinkled the substance across the flowers in between the shrubs to help them grow healthier. Finally, he grabbed a new, empty plant box and filled it with soil. He sprayed the dried soil with fertilized water and smoothed over the surface with his rake. Last, but certainly not least, he took out fresh flower seeds, which he was going to plant in the new box. A group of varyingly colored hydrangeas, his absolute favorite.
