· a/n: a quick one-shot based on the prompt for day seven from the official fictober prompt list. this is set shortly before the events of Thor (2011) so we have a lovely time in the courts of Asgard with both princes. and I totally used a line from pride and prejudice (2005) in here, hehe oops. also, I realized I write a lot of garden scenes. oh well. xD
DO NOT REPOST MY WORK.
· prompt: (#7) "yes, I did, what about it?"
· warnings: jealousy, arguing, language

The echo of Loki's boots pounding against the marble floors of the palace resounded down the corridors of the royal wing like the beating of a war drum. The servants he passed averted his gaze to the shadows of their own feet. The guards posted along the doorways stiffened. A dense buzz of furious energy poured from his countenance as he carried himself with as much haste as his anger would afford him. His lips were taut and his eyes narrowed.
His knuckles turned white as he tightened his fingers into fists and rapped harshly on the door to his brother's chambers. As he waited for a response, his lungs quivered as he tried to even his breathing. He knocked again when his patience ran thin, "Thor! Open this door!"
The thudding of Thor's heavier footfalls muffled through the door and grew louder as he approached. Loki vaguely heard the words of quick excuse his brother delivered as he turned the latch and opened the door to reveal himself. Upon seeing him, Loki's rage intensified.
"Brother! What brings you by my chambers? You never come by this way anymore!" Thor exclaimed, donning that wide goofy grin Loki had always thought rather absurd. His tone was light and full of glee, which irked the raven-haired prince even more. Was he acting as though he had no inclination as to why Loki would voluntarily involve himself in his company?
"Don't 'brother' me, Thor," Loki sneered, "you know exactly why I've come."
Thor sighed and shifted his grin into a smirk. He crossed his arms over his chest as he held his brother's gaze. "Have you come to ask me for another lesson in swordsmanship? Father mentioned that your skills had been lacking when he evaluated your training yesterday."
Loki felt his fingers twitch as his nails dug into the skin of his palms. Of all times to display his overconfidence and favor from their father, this was not the time for it. Loki was already upset that his brother had deliberately gone behind his back in one matter he promised he never would. Swordplay had nothing to do with it.
"Spare me your petty egotism. I want an answer, brother. Why did you do it?"
"Do what?"
"You're really going to make me spell it out for you?"
Thor shifted on his feet as he grew more annoyed by the second, "Does it look like I know what you're talking about, Loki?"
"I suppose it would only be natural to have everything handed to you on a platter," Loki quipped. His face darkened as his tine dipped to an unnerving depth. "Did you ask Lady (Y/n) to take up your offer of courtship?"
A look of realization took over Thor's expression and his haughty smile flashed. He nodded pointedly as if his answer held no weight and turned back to walk into his chambers, leaving the door wide open for Loki to follow. "Is that what this is about? That silly woman who spends every festival hidden away from the crowds? What concerns have you for her? She's quite boring, apart from her features."
