It was particularly hot over the summer that Harry and Draco Malfoy-Potter brought home their final baby from the hospital.
"The last member of the Quidditch team!" Casper cheered with a huge grin as he opened the door to welcome his fathers and his sixth sibling home. "You said you'd get there in the end, Dad! What's this one then, eh? Reckon he could be a Beater when he's big enough?"
"This is a tough little guy, I reckon he could take that role," Harry smiled wryly, pushing back his hair from his tired face and offloading the baby to his eldest child before kissing each of the other children's foreheads in turn.
"Came out kicking and screaming," Draco agreed. "Poor surrogate mother had a bit of a rough time with him, so we heard."
The five Potter daughters crowded round Casper, each clamouring to see the little boy in their brother's arms.
"He's so little!"
"Look at all that hair! I thought it'd be darker!"
"No, he'll go darker later! He looks just like April did when she came home!"
"Can I hold him after you, Cas?"
"What colour are his eyes? Are they green like Dad's?"
Harry surveyed his family with more joy than he'd ever thought possible as the questions bounded about the room. He was struck, not for the first time, by how beautiful his children all were, and how lucky he was to have them.
Of the girls, it was pretty easy to tell who was biologically his and who was Draco's as he regarded the scene. The twins for example were tall for their age, and blonde, with serious grey eyes, high cheekbones and long lashes. Draco's genes to a T. They'd arrived the winter after Casper's fourth birthday, and the little boy had been beyond delighted to hold them for the first time.
Harry chuckled at the memory. "Lilia-Luna", Casper had called them both, not bothering to discriminate between the two girls when they were little, but loving them both with equal fierceness.
The two of them had inherited Draco's intelligence and sharp wit as well as his striking looks; that was becoming more and more obvious the older they got. They were going into their Third year at Hogwarts the following month and Harry pitied their professors greatly.
"Imagine being Flitwick and trying to tell the twins about the Mending Charm when they want to go to Quidditch practice," he'd laughed to Draco one night in secret. "They'd just destroy him!"
"They don't care about mending things. They just know how to break them!," Draco had agreed drily. "And besides, Luna might be alright but I don't think Lilia will have much luck on the Quidditch front this year with Casper as the new Ravenclaw captain. He'll work her hard if she wants to get on the team."
And then there was eleven-year-old April, dark-haired and bright-eyed, with dimples in her easy smile and none of the petulance one might expect from a middle child. She was due to start Hogwarts this coming term on her twelfth birthday, and there was no doubt in her fathers' minds over which house she'd be sorted into - her patience and sweetness with her siblings marked her out as the most obvious Hufflepuff they'd ever seen.
Clara was next, another unmistakably Potter-looking child at eight years old, who'd somehow managed to get Lily Evans' red hair as well as James Potter's eyes in the gene pool.
Harry had a particular soft spot for her because of this, as well as the fact that she reminded him the most of himself in her ridiculous lack of impulse control, and willingness to accept her older siblings' dares to prove herself to them at all costs.
