It's now been four days since Ricky and Nini first met in the coffee shop, and three days since Nini texted Ricky to make plans.

She's honestly given up on seeing him ever again at this point.

Ricky, however, knows he hasn't texted her back, and he feels horrible about it.

His manager has been all over him for scheduling interviews and getting his name out to the public, and she thinks she's finally onto something.

"Just one more today, Ricky, then we'll be done." Jen smiles to Ricky.

Ricky sighs, feeling overwhelmed.

"I know you're frustrated—"

Ricky looks up to meet her eyes. "I don't know if I can do a sixth audition today, Jen."

"You said that about the fifth one," she reminds him.

Ricky squeezes his eyes shut.

He wishes he could just ignore the real world and go hang out with Nina at the coffee shop. He wishes his life were normal.

Ricky opens his eyes again. "Okay. Let's do this."

"Atta boy." Jen pats him on the back.

Jen has been Ricky's manager since he was thirteen years old, when he landed his first role. She's stuck by his side ever since. She's been there for him even when his family hasn't.

The audition lasts about two hours, and it's past nine at night by the time it's over.

All Ricky wants to do is go home and cry.

He already knows that audition was a bust.

He hasn't had a breakout role in a year, and he knows Jen is getting frustrated. It was so much easier to land parts when he looked younger, but he's starting to look more his age. He has no experience in older roles.

Despite feeling like his world is ending, and that all he should do is go to his apartment and drown himself in ice cream, he pulls out his phone.

There's only one person he can think about wanting to see, and it's the one person that knows nothing about him.

He dials Nina's number.

To his surprise, she answers it.

"Hello?"

Ricky clears his throat. "Hey, um, sorry to bother you."

"Oh, it's alright. What's up? Is everything okay?"

"Honestly?" Ricky lets out a slight laugh. "Not really, but I don't expect you to deal with that. I, uh... I just wanted to know if you happen to be free."

"Right now?"

Ricky scratches the back of his neck. "Yeah, if, uh, if that's not too much of a hassle."

"I'm actually just getting off work. Would you want to meet me here and we can go on a walk?"

Ricky thinks about it before deciding against strolling around in public and hoping for the best. "I'm actually kind of tired. Would you want to come to my apartment?"

"Oh, um..."

"Oh gosh! Oh, no, that is not what I meant. Not at all. Sorry, we don't have to do that. We can go somewhere else."

"No, uh... That's fine. What's the address?"

"Okay, good. I promise I'm not like that. I'm not trying to make a move or anything. I really do just want to hang out and talk."

Ricky hears her laugh over the line. "Rick, it's fine. Just text me your address and I'll be over in a bit."

"Yeah, yeah. Sounds good, Nina. Um, you can call me Ricky, by the way. Rick is just awfully formal."

"Alright, Ricky. If we're doing nicknames, all my friends call me Nini."

Ricky smiles. "I'll see you soon, Nini."

"See you soon, Ricky."

With that, they end the call and Ricky texts Nini his address.
