Trinity Brodeur (The Taurus Pneuma) POV:

I walked silently and stealthily ahead. It was dark, really really dark, but being a daughter of Cetus, one of my powers was that I had really sharp senses. They came in handy in fights with Abians, along with situations like this.

I knew that the slower I walked, the lesser chances Eliza would have of survival, yet I had to walk silently or else I'd attract....unwanted company.

Because the things I was facing were probably worse than Abians.

I know if you've read "The Feats of Alexander Douglas, by Sarah Shaw" you'd probably think there was nothing worse, in this planet, than Abians, but no one knew about....these. Only I, and now my sister Eliza, did.

Two years ago, I fell in love with another boy at the Academy for us Fortemistes. We went out hunting once and in the middle of the night, he disappeared. Back at the academy, people thought it was an Abian attack and thought that he was probably dead. Me, being the lovesick girl I was, refused to believe it. So I went out in the world to find Andre myself.

Long story short, I found him, and I don't want to describe what I found.

His body was mutilated, limbs scattered, heart ripped out, neck broken. And worse, three or four things were eating up his lungs. They weren't those people who eat humans, no. (A/N: I know it's called a cannibal, but back in the fifteenth century, the word "cannibals" didn't exist.) These had a total of four arms and legs each. Their heads were bloated and their skins were a sickly reddish-orange colour. Their teeth were 4 feet long and were a bright yellow along with bits of red (from Andre's blood).

When they looked up at me and my friends, we instantly froze. We didn't know what these were and had no idea how to react. They instantly took out all of my friends and I barely managed to escape.

I was 24 now. The Fortemistes consider me the best of our age. Good enough to rival Alexander Douglas even. But after that day, I knew I had failed. I had failed myself, I had failed my friends. There was no gain. Just the deaths of the people I loved and another thing to add to my nightmares.

It all had happened because of me.

I had probably killed more Abians than anyone else around here, but suddenly I wasn't really proud of all that glory. For the past 6 years, life had been completely bland, I just moved through each day in a haze, trying not to think much about anything. I had always been a sensible leader of my race and had planned to stay like this as long as possible. Alas! It was not long enough.

As soon as I heard Eliza was captured, I knew it was by these species. I mean the signs were exactly the same. A blood trail that suddenly disappeared in the middle of nowhere, bits of odd coloured leaves, and the smell, the odd, gross smell. And it was like only I could smell it. Of course maybe only I could, since I had those super sharp senses.
